I'm just curious, if you studied nothing but Rapid review path or Pathoma (and know it cover to cover), and didn't even look at First Aid, would one be able to do well on Step 1? (Assuming you are also doing a Question Bank as well). My thought is, you would sacrifice the entire pharm and biochem, but you would kill the pathology (which is like 60-70% of the test anyways).

I was thinking about something similar as well since both of those are more digestible to me than FA's one liner factoids. Plus why put the extra work in adding stuff to FA if it's more or less the same thing those two already have. Although I would think Pathoma would be more efficient for dedicated studying but RR does have those nice subject integration points scattered about as well.

I used RR all during second year. Start of Step 1 studying, spent 2 weeks going thru it again, along with Goljan audio. First practice test, did horrible.
Added in FA along with USMLERx questions, added about 40 points.

RR is great, but not all inclusive.
If anything, focus more on practice questions.
I felt USMLERx was great for hammering home points from FA.

I also did UW.

IMO you'd probably do MUCH better if you knew the basics of every topic (i.e. study FA) than if you know a handful of topics in extreme (and mostly unnecessary) depth while knowing next to nothing about other topics (i.e. study RR only)

also you wouldn't only be skimping on pharm and biochem, also psych/behavioral science, epi/biostats, micro and neuro (which is covered very poorly). RR is a good supplement to FA and goljan audio but is definitely not intended to be your primary source for step 1 studying

I think you could manage. UW is an exceptionally powerful resource. You'd probably need FA if you planned on really rocking a huge score, but you could probably break 240 just using UW and Goljan.
