Here's a question- will schools let us know if we are rejected? Or will they just not respond?

Perhaps I should clarify- if schools have our information but haven't extended us an interview invitation will they tell us if they have no intention of offering an interview (rejection) or will they just not reply?

You get a letter saying you are rejected after they review your application and deem you not worthy of an interview.

Then after interview, if I were not good fit for the school, they send a rejection letter?

I think they e-mail you?

I feel like all the interviewees who are not accepted are put in the waitinglist/alternate, but that's just my assumption. Does anyone know if that's true?

I think you still need an interview to even get placed on the waiting list.

Yes. But you can also be put on a "waitlist" to be interviewed. In a way, I was put on hold for an interview at all. They just told me the admission committee has not come to a consensus on my application.
