Nov. DAT too late??

I'm supposed to take the DAT in about a week and a half and am not feeling like I will be completely ready. This is my first (and only chance) to take it as I want to apply for the '08 cycle. My GPA is not great so I want to do really well so I'm thinking of pushing it until mid November. I know people are saying it's really late in the cycle, etc...and some people say they're taking it in December and some are saying they took it in February and still got in...I was just wondering what your general thoughts on this were...🙂

It's really eating at me. Is one week really going to make a big difference? I mean, it's already late, isn't it?

Hey, I'm on the same boat as you! I'm just gonna wait and see how I feel before 2 days of my exam... and if I still don't feel good about it, I'll reschedule.

I know some ppl might advise you to take it just to get over it, but in my case, I wouldn't. If you only got one shot, might as well make it a good one!

You should call up the schools aslo, maybe they have another opinion. Are you done with all their requirements (LORs, secondary application fees, etc.)? If it's just the DAT they're waiting for, I'm sure they'll wait... well, just call 'em and ask.

If you strongly believe that 1 extra week will improve your scores..then yes wait that week. Your right your already late for this cycle, but that doesn't mean u can't get in. But in the best case senario..if you do well, and u don't get in this cycle...and then its that much easier to apply early next cycle and get interviews.

Only delay it if you strongly believe you will improve your scores. If you don't do well, it doesn't matter when u take it.

Haha, the medical ship has long sailed. I was interested in it for some time (took the MCAT and everything) but I much prefer dentistry. As for the exam, that's a good way to approach it...I'm pretty sure I'm going to reschedule for the first week of november. The way I see it, if they weren't going to accept me because of lateness a week earlier, they wouldn't accept me one week later. I'd rather sacrifice time for a GOOD solid DAT score.

I've sent in everything that needs to be sent in, so the schools would just be waiting for the DAT score. I know that the DAT needs to be in for them to look at the entire application so hopefully they WILL wait 🙂

Well, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one taking the test in November for this present cycle. 🙄

Do D-schools ask for your MCAT scores? or do they just ask that question on the DAT for statistical reasons?

Because I was taking the MCAT and didn't think about taking the DAT until later.
