Hello everyone!

Just curious as to who's received an interview invite from Nova already...I submitted my app on August 31 but have not heard back 🙁

I'm starting to get really paranoid and depressed as I've already heard of few people that have already gotten invites to Nova. Thanks for sharing!

P.S. Is there some kind of system by which schools start evaluating applications (i.e. alphabetically by last name, first come first serve, etc)????
 
I'm a P1 at Nova-WPB campus...and I love NOVA!!!! Interviews start Oct 8th. I'm sure you'll get in, just do well at your interview! Good luck and if you have any questions, just ask!

hi, i apply to nova too. so u sent the supplemental application on Aug 31 and haven't heard anything. i think u should be ok, it is still too soon to get worried. are there some people already got the interview letter already? that's fast? can i ask u a question? did u take the pcat already? and did u do well?
 
Yes, I took the PCAT in June and got a 96. And yes, I know of a few people that already have invites from Nova and they sent their apps at the same time I did. Still no word from Nova for me though...🙁

Hi pills4u, I submitted aug. 29 and then received a letter a little over a week later that showed my missing courses. I got a call about 2 days after the letter. I really wouldn't get too worried because I heard they only interview ~6 students/day and I think they have 3 days in early oct thus far, so there are many more interviews to come.
 
I got a call last week from Nova. My application was complete 8/30. They asked me to come on 10/15 but I have class mondays, so I'm going 10/25. anyone interview there yet?
 
Congrats PharmHopeful3! Did you get a letter first about missing prereq's?

yeah, i actually got that after the phone call though..which is kinda funny.

Thanks for the good luck! I think I need it cause my stats arent that great lol Hopefully I will win them over with my sparkling personality haha...
 
Are you applying to any other schools, PharmHopeful3? If so, have you heard from them yet?
 
I applied to 10 haha i'm a little nervous about not getting in (I already took a year off, so I reallllly dont want to have to apply again next year)
I've heard from Mercer and Shenandoah also...have interviews with them before nova.

Do you mind sharing your stats? Mine are not that great either and I received the letter about missing class almost a month ago and have not heard anything yet!
 
i am worried too. i hope they will send me the letter. and i didn't do well on my 1st pcat in june. so do u guys have any ideas if they are still interested in my application. i gonna retake the test again in october. thanks.

Would you mind sharing how you found out this info and whether it's trustworthy? I've called Nova several times and have not gotten much info from them, unfortunately. It would just make me feel better to know...still anxiously waiting for a phone call...

I think they look at the best PCAT you've taken, but I'm not sure how the application part works. Didn't the supplemental or PharmCas ask when you're planning on taking the PCAT? If so, I think they'll already know that you're planning on retaking and review it them. I would call them to make sure though. Good luck!

Well...if you are referring to the 3 dates for interviews in October, it was because they called me and asked which date I wanted of 3 consecutive days. However, I have been reading other posts and it seems they also have a mid-oct interview session and a late-oct interview session. I heard that they interview about 6 students per session from one of my classmates who has P1 friends at Nova, who interviewed last year.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN REGISTERED OR ATTENDED SANTA MONICA COLLEGE. I HAVE NEVER PUT DOWN THAT I HAVE ATTENDED THIS SCHOOL OR PLANNED TO ATTND.
FOR SOME REASON PHARMCAS SAYS ONE OF MY TRANSCRIPTS SAYS THAT I HAVE.

First off, you might want to start a new thread with this... I havent heard of this before. You should try calling them tomorrow. I would assume that they would probably want you to get a letter from Santa Monica College that states you were never a student there. But definitely call/email them. I emailed them when they made an error on my app and they were very quick and responsive. Good luck.

When I talked to them, they told me the next interview date was the 15th, but I couldnt make that one. She said I could pick any tuesday, wednesday or thursday (i think) to come.

Hi guys! I usually just read and not post but I registerred since I am applying (in process) to Nova for fall 08 matriculation. I have a few questions to those who sent in their app. already or those who are already in Nova:

1. I'm taking my pcat for the first time October 20th. Can I still send in my pharmcas without my pcat scores? however my pcat scores are being sent to pharmcas. im just wondering if they would still review my application without my scores? sounds kinda dumb, but i'm not sure what the regulations are on that.. i think nova won't look at my app without my scores, so should i still send in my pharmcas or wait til pharmcas receives them? everything else is done though as far as the application goes.

See above. I need to fill out the supplementals today. Do they mail it to you or do you go download forms from the website? Is it online or is it paper based?

Absolutely send it off. They will review you app w/o your pcat scores. Quite possibly even offer you an interview if you have amazing stats otherwise. The sooner they know you are applying, the soon they can invite you to fill in their supplemental app. Heard they offered a girl last year an acceptance before her pcat was received bc she had great stats. good luck! 🙂

When they receive your application from pharmcas, Nova will email you a link with information on how to fill out the supplemental app.
 
It is hard to get into contact with someone from pharmacy, especially Ms. Tracy Templin at [email protected], because she never replies back to me or answers my telephone calls. If I wanted to have the supplementals received tomorrow, what telephone number should I call to get someone to email me the supplementals?
 
kinda o/t but the only thing i'm concerned about is that i have about 3 years of business college behind me and i started over at my community college (actually right next to nova) for pharmacy. i should have all my pre-reqs done by the summer but for the most part my gpa is about a 3.6-3.7. i'm doing fairly well in all my pre-req classes, as well. so i'm not sure how they'd look at this. i guess we'll have to see. the reason i'm applying is because it's WORTH a shot! it could save me a year! is the supplemental app pretty long? and furthermore, do you know if they take business stats? tracy templin told me yes but then i read on some site that they don't. i have no idea but im gonna stick with templin's word!

It took awhile, about a month from when I submitted PharmCAS to receiving the email from NSU, bc pharmcas has to calculate your gpa and then print it off and mail it to the schools. They are pretty busy too right now. Then it took nsu about a couple weeks to get their paperwork in order and email supplement invites. Tracy Templin is pretty difficult to reach, however, when I called, I called the main campus of nsu and eventually got myself transferred to the college of pharmacy when I spoke to someone at the college (not Tracy) who helped me out. I guess you can try that.

I would like Tracy's telephone number or her secretary's phone number. I want more phone numbers to call because I had just e- submitted my pharmcas application to them. Hopefully, I can get the supplemental done and interview with the first group! Thanks.

Relax! You don't want them to think poorly of you if you keep calling constantly. There's a fine line between being a go getter and reminding them of your app and being pesky. This is still early in the admissions cycle. Once they receive your wonderful info of course they will call you for an interview Good luck 🙂

PS- I was going to attend Nova until I got into UF so I'm pretty familiar with their app process.
 
I live right next to Nova and I literally called all the time just to get a hold of someone that could answer my question. I even went to the school and I had to wait about 20 minutes to talk to somebody. Interns at my store always say it's impossible to get a hold of anyone at nova... and that they're notoriously known for that. I go to the community college right next to Nova, so anytime i had a question, the ONLY WAY i could get through to Tracy Templin was by going to my academic advisor who happened to know her on a personal level and e-mailed her for me. Other than that, there's really no hope as far as I can see.. other than going to the actual school.

Overall GPA: 3.2 (nearly all A's in prereqs)
PCAT 83 (high math, chem... low reading comp)
B.S. Engineering
lots of hospital/pharmacy volunteering, chem tutor, mentored an elementary school student for 2 years, etc...
 
I have been waiting and waiting and still no response. No one has returned my phone calls or emails I sent regarding NOVA supplemental application. I need to fill those out soon so that I can be considered for an interview in the next cycle. Some people on this forum already gotten interviews from NOVA. What number should I call? Who should I talk to?

you can't rush the school. they will give you the supplemental if they want to. they have other applicants to look at too. if everyone could just harass the school and be like "no, you need to look at my application and send my supplemental now even though there are other students who submitted their application BEFORE me" that would be a bid mess. you need to chill out.

How about Business Calc or Applied Calc I (MAC 2233)? On the PharmCAS webist it states Calculus (for science majors). I planned to take it in the spring. Today I received a letter stating I missing three courses Organic II and Statistics (both which I'm taking now) and Microeconomics. It doesn't state that I need Calculus. Do you think she overlooked the calculus course that I took? It is a 3 credit course, whereas Calculus with Analytic Geometry is a 5 credit course.

Also, U.F. is still accepting Business Calculus, however, this is the last year they will accept it.

Ok, I think you're asking me whether they take business calc or mac2233. They take MAC2233, in fact that's what they want (this is Templin's words). Business calculus will not transfer (so I'm having to retake all my math), however Business stats, according to Templin, WILL transfer. Then, I saw that business stats doesnt transfer (somewhere on PharmCAS site), but I'm gonna take Templin's word over PharmCAS. So bottom line, you don't need Calc if you already took MAC2233 or are planning to take it. Hopet his helps.

And yes, you are right about UF.. darn them!

Gosh, so much conflicting info from Nova....when I was first looking into going there, I personally went down there to talk to someone and called them (just to make sure) to verify the calculus and stats class. I also had already taken business calc and business stats. I was told that I had to take calc with analytical geometry (this is the "for science majors" class) and a stats I (or intro to stats) class, NOT business. I was told this by Templin's secretary (I assume that she verified with Templin herself b/c she had to go into the back office and then came back with the answers. This was last year around this time, so maybe they've changed it again. I suggest getting a final answer, though. Thankfully, I'm in the clear now.
 
hi, pharmhope3! i have a question for you. did you receive the letter of missing coursework? is that about the class that you took and u didn't list on the supp application or is that the courses that u haven't took?
i receive the letter saying that i miss 3 classes, but i am taking them right now and will finish them off next semester. i try to call the school but it is hard to reach somebody. can u let me know ? and do i have to send something to the school to let them know that? thanks.

You have nothing to worry about thesun. It's just a letter acknowledging that you have those classes left to take since they didn't see it on your transcripts. They assume that you are or will be taking them soon. It won't hold you back from the application process. Good luck!

I received a call 3 days ago from Nova. I have an interview on 23 OCT. Any tip for the interview???

Just joined! I completed by BBA (Finance) in May and completed all my pre-reqs at the same time. Want to join the pharmD/MBA program at NSU. Like so many, I am just waiting. I just completed my supplemental app a week ago and sent in the signature page.

So the interview appointments are always made by telephone? I wasn't sure but all the wording above seems to lean that way. I do hope to get a call~~

They called me and said they will send me a mail to confirm that again.

I was sent a email for a link to the supp. app a few days after they received my Pharmcas. It does take a while for them to receive the Pharmcas app, though.
