Hi guys, anyone going to NOVA's interview on March 9???? They just called me yesterday to schedule a day for interview 🙂
I'll check the interview feedback later but any short reply on interview related stuffs are really appreciated!!! For those already went for interviews, did you guys like it there? and how long you guys waited before hearing anything from NOVA???

I noticed that NOVA has 3 different locations, total acceptance is 200.
120 - Ft. Lauderdale
40 - West Palm Beach
30 - Puerto Rico

Do students choose where to attend if got accepted? I see that West Palm Beach & Puerto Rico are Satellite Programs, what's that??? Sorry guys with so many questions, I'll search for this later, but I know that some of you guys may know the answer to my question pretty well..So thanks in advance...

(one more thing, my mom doesn't like that idea me going there because she scares, worries about bad weather---related to things that happened last year-----)

It's a nice school with new facilities. The location is good...Ft. Lauderdale is a nice city and only 20 minutes from Miami. As for the weather, you can't beat 80 degrees in January, and hurricanes are not a big deal. I interviewed in January and they said we could expect to hear from them sometime in March. Everything you need to know about Nova is either on the pharmcas site or Nova's website. If the tuition there wasn't more than twice that of UF's tuition, I would strongly consider going there.

satellite programs mean that the majority of the teaching staff will be off campus, and a lot of classes will be telecasted (live video feed) but there will prolly be an assistant professor on-site that you could talk to in person. The main campus is amazing, can't speak for the other sites since i didn't check them out. And my friend who lives in the area said hurricanes aren't a very big deal. Just don't go for a walk in the middle of one.

I'm going to the interview on March 2nd. When I called Crystal she told me the next interview dates were the 2nd and the 7th. She didn't even give me the option to go on the 9th. I wonder how many more interview dates they have scheduled. Crystal did confirm that there were only 65 of the total 225 seats filled, and that some of those seats did include the satellite campuses.

On your supplemental there was an area where you had to check which campus(es) you wanted to be considered for. I only checked the Fort Lauderdale campus. I heard that if you don't put a preference down that the school automatically places you wherever they have the least amount of applicants. I'm not sure how true that is though. You could always call Crystal and ask her exactly how that works. I'd wanna know!

Crystal called me and offered days of interviews are March 8 and March 9.. So yeah, on pharmcas it says that NOVA interviews start from November until May...And only checked the Fort Lauderdale campus on my supplemental, so hopefully it will work out fine..

My friend Edward was in your group for the interview. He got his interview on March 2nd. I already had my interview on Feb 21st. Do you know how long it takes for them to tell you whether you got in or not?

Tracy (admission counselor) said that she hopes to send the letters out today after the dean signs for approval based on the committee's recommendations. good luck! i know you did great because we were the last two interviewed that day, and we talked a little bit about your performance.

Oh neat! Ed seemed like a nice guy. I hope he gets accepted too! Crystal told us that we shouldn't hear back for another 3 weeks or so.

Meesathuy- I'm confused! I was under the impression that the adcom wasn't meeting again until mid-March. Hmmm?

Messathuy, I thought I did well. However, when I told some people the kind of answers I said, they were like "Thank God you're dual admit because with those answers you would be rejected." I'm really nervous. I was hoping that the mail would come today but it didn't. I also think that the laughter that you heard came from another room, because I don't remember my interviewers laughing really loudly.

You are in a different group. The adcom for the group that messathuy and I were in met two fridays ago. The adcom for your group will meet mid-march.

Carlx, sorry about the confusion. To clarify, I attended the interview on Feb. 21. Therefore, I will most likely hear from them before you will.

seriously?? hahaha! naw, i'm sure you did great. if you gotten in through the dual admit program, i can only imagine you having good stats. that said, i'm certain you'll get an admit letter. and besides, i know you have a personality and the adcom will definitely see that. let me know when you get the letter because....CA is much farther away!

What is the dual admit program?

The dual admission is a program for students who are entering their freshman year of undergraduate studies at Nova. In this program, they are guarantee a seat in the pharmacy school but they must maintain a certain GPA (3.0), PCAT score (75 and above). In order to get into this program, u must have a good high school GPA and a good SAT score. You also need to go through 2 interviews, one before undergraduate and one before pharmacy school. There are usually 15 seats reserved for the Dual Admission students. One of the advantages of the dual admission program is that you get a bachelors in pharmaceutical science and a pharm.D. in 6 years as oppose to 8 years. I'm in my second year of the 6 year program. I'm waiting on the results of my second interview.

dustin, are you still waiting? maybe you should ask tracy if she's mailed out acceptances....i swear, they like to keep us waiting.

I'm surprised you guys even got in touch with those two ladies (crystal and tracy) its like a near impossibility! They were missing a letter of recommendation that i know got sent there and I tried for 2 weeks to get in touch with them, phone, email you name it i did it, haha. Luckily my persistance eventually worked. Now the waiting part of it all 🙁

does anyone know of Nova sending out any rejection letters yet? I have heard absolutely nothing from Nova since probably November when they sent me a letter stating all the classes I lacked. I was just curious as to whether I could still be invited for an interview or if the reason I havent received a rejection is b/c they havent sent any out yet.

Whew! I too was getting paranoid . I have also heard neither hide nor hair from Nova. If nothing else applying for pharmacy school is teaching me how to wait patiently- between PharmCas and PCAT and NOVA, I am fast becoming a patient person!

Messathuy, I was literally waiting for the mail box yesturday. But No I didn't get anything from them. I don't care anymore. Dean Malave is probably out of town or something like that. Can't say that it takes more than 2 days to mail to me, because they usually mail everyone through first class mailing. I guess when they say they are going to mail today, they REALLY mean they are going to mail next week.

Believe me they are literally HUNDREDS of people in the same situation your in. I'm also suprised that Messathuy actually got contact with them. Crystal and Tracey are exremely busy.

I've heard several stories of people who did not get accepted at Nova and never got a rejection letter from them.

Does anyone know if you are supposed to receive a packet or confirmation letter by mail once they schedule an interview?
I emailed Tracy and Crystal so many times, called them and left them a message to find out but it seems it's impossible to contact them.
I only know I have to be there at 8:30am, but don't know what room or building I have to meet them.

yes, you are supposed to receive a packet containing the interview information. It contains a parking pass, dress code signature form, official interview confirmation, and directions. I suggest showing up to the interview half an hour ealier than the actual time printed on the letter because they also give a tour of the school.
and yes, crystal and tracy are very busy. I only got a hold of them after calling them 4-5 times a day.
I'm assuming that the interviews will be held at the main health science administrative room.

Still did not receive anything from Nova today in the mail! 😡

I see that you interviewed on 2/28. It took 5 weeks after my interview to get my acceptance! So don't sweat it. It takes 2-3 weeks after the committee meets to hear something. Good luck!

Congratulations for getting into Nova. The committee met the same week I had my interview, (monday 2/21 was the interview and friday they met). Tracey told one of the applicants last monday that she was planning to mail the acceptance letter out on that day). Since Nova uses first class mail, I was hoping that it would arrive on tuesday. Now its thursday and I haven't received it. I'm just really anxious because my spring break is about to end and I wanted to use the free time to fill out fafsa. But I can't fill it out if I don't know whether I'll be in pharmacy school next year.

hey JackFruitLover, don't worry too much..you already did yr best, so now just more waiting..
Actually I just got back from Nova's interview..There were only 4 people in my group..i reall like the campus, very nice and the tour was very nice and helpful...However, i don't have very good impression of the interview team..They seemed like they didn't want to ask many questions..good luck.. :luck: But I like Nova, so don't mind going there 🙂

THANKS! I was quite excited to find out I was accepted! What an awesome feeling. Did ya'll apply to other Florida schools?

I only applied to Nova because under the Dual Admissions contract I can not apply to anywhere else other than Nova.

Congrats on getting an interview. Yeah I heard a lot of bad things about the interviewers at Nova. I think its just lack of experience.

Whatever it is they need to fix it.

Great location, great school, great program...

bad, apathetic interviewers.

The school, the location ....are great!!!! i got pretty good impression about the program too...I really want to go there!!! I will know their decision within March, anyone waiting for March's decision too??

The interviewers, and lots of time waiting around on interview day====NOT so great!!

Since you interviewed in March, it is unlikely you will hear from them in the same month. The adcom meets around the end of each month, and then it takes them like three weeks after that to mail out acceptances.

Crytal was the one that told us that we will definitely hear from them within March, or end of March (latest)...If not, we have to let them know right away...She said that they want to move things fast now...So yeah, I'm hoping that it's true... 🙂

some other schools is way faster, like Midwestern (chicago), my friend got accepted after 3 days of her MVC. they contacted her by email first..I hope that NOVA will contact students by email first, and then send out envelop later ====less waiting...

Since that's the only school you applied to... I take it you're going to attend? I guess I should not even ask.... anyway, CONGRATULATIONS!! 👍 Feels great huh? Hey, maybe I'll see you this fall!!

Should I expect any written tests or writing assignments during the interview?

Congrats!!! Now yout just relax and start school in Fall... 👍

Maybe start looking for housing, NOVA doesn't have on-campus housing for graduate/professional program...

hey, do you guys think nova rejects anyone? based on their stats, it seems like they accept 90% of the students they interview. i was just curious to see how you feel about this. does this make nova any less competitive?

No, because not everyone gets an interview. You need to look at the percentage of applicants that get accepted, not the percentage that are accepted after they are interviewed.

Look at it from this angle: Nova received 3,000+ applications this year (according to receptionist) and ~200 are accepted. This means that 95% of applicants are rejected. I'd say Nova is one of the most competitive schools in the country with those statistics... But, I have heard that unless you are a complete ***** in your interview, you're in. I interviewed a couple of weeks ago, waiting to hear back... They really don't interview you unless they're totally serious about having you there.

LOL Ok UnclePimpJuice, it was like 60 degrees here in January, +/- 10 degrees! It even dropped to the 40s a bit. The school is awesome though 🙂

Only have time for a short reply, test in a couple minutes....
Nova was my hardest interview because it's open file. Be prepared to explain any poor grades, withdrawals etc. They didn't ask about every bad grade but be aware that they're looking at your transcripts during your interview. I had 2 faculty members, they didn't seem too friendly just very straightforward. I had a hard time reading them. But I felt fairly good when I left. Just not like I "nailed" it or something.
But I got an acceptance letter 2 weeks (?) later, can't remember exactly how long it took.
Go in feeling confident, look them in the eyes, be prepared by reading the feedback and doing a little research on their school and you'll be FINE! :luck: :luck: :luck:

Do you even live in Florida? If you did you would know that 80 in January in Ft. Lauderdale is very feasible. BTW, it was in the low 80's when I had my interview in January.

Hey... I interviewed a couple of weeks ago too. Any idea when we should be hearing back? Of the ~3,000 applications they receive do you know roughly how many people they interview? I asked Crystal that question at my interview but she wouldn't give me a straight answer. All she kept saying was "oh, hunnie, we don't have set numbers." I think she was trying to avoid answering!

60's in January sounds AMAZING! Hell, even 40's is nice!
P.S. Current weather in NY = 29 degrees & snowing 😎
