Congrats !!! You guys are so lucky.....My interview is coming up in like 2 weeks so wish me luck !!....Just curious what did they ask you guys specifically in your interview...????....When I check the feedback section the only questions there are, Why Nova ?, Why Pharmacy ...Please let me know ...im so nervous...any other tips are welcome...thanks guys ...and again CONGRATS !!!!....

To be honest, I left Nova feeling very wishy-washy about the whole experience. Not because of the school itself, but because of my interview. There were 4 of us that interviewed that day. I was the first to get called in. Two female professors conducted the interview. One was very nice but the other one made the whole interview very tense and rushed. I felt like I was talking too much and annoying her! I was in there for 5 minutes (I'm not kidding! It was so short!) I was asked: Why Pharmacy? Why Nova? What do you consider your greatest strength? ...And weakness? Tell me about your research experience in Alabama. How are your study habits? That's it! It may sound like a lot but I tend to talk fast, especially when I'm nervous, so it really went by very quickly. Unlike other interviews I have been on, this one did not flow like a conversation at all. They asked a question, I answered, they moved on. At the time, I thought maybe they just didn't like me but they did the exact same thing with the other 3 people. We were all a little taken back by the whole thing. They were sort of mean to one of the other girls that interviewed with me. She said they asked her a few questions about her grades. Things like: Why did you score so poorly on the verbal section of the PCAT? I see that you have completed all of the pre-reqs, but are you aware that you will have to take 18 credit hours every semester you are here? Personally, I was surprised that she was asked those questions because nothing about my grades/PCAT scores came up at all. So it might be a good idea to be prepared to explain any questionable grades. Overall, I would just be yourself and give honest, thorough answers, regardless of whatever mood your interviewers are in. Be confident, you'll be fine!

Congratulations to those who got accepted to NOVA!

I was wondering if the adcom has already made a decision for me since I interviewed on 3/15.

I called Crystal today but she didn't pick up the phone all day.

Does anyone know when was the date of the adcom decision?

My acceptance letter from the Dean was dated 3/14 but another letter from the lady in charge of collecting transcripts and the deposit was dated 3/22.

Hey calrx thank you for that detailed explanation...I really appreciate it. Wow..they only interviewed you for 5 mins....When im practicing on my own im ending up with a long detailed answer to why I should do pharmacy, why nova..etc. I guess I have to try to trim my answers as short as possible without losing the essence of my response. This is my first and only interview ( I only applied to nova) Thats why im so nervous...if I screw up then i have to go frm class of 2010 to 2011..which would really suck..but hopefully things will work out. Thanks again I really appreciate it. Congrats to you again ...I hope I'll see you at nova fall 06....by the way what campus are you going to ?..

Im getting scared now because everyone is saying that the davie campus is full and palm beach only has like 40 seats...my interview in on april 19 @ WPB do you think I have any chance of getting accepted..or am I going to be waitlisted or just not be accepted at all..this really sucks ...this is what happens when you do all your paper work late...well im going to keep my fingered crossed hopefully i wont be class 0f 2011....

Hey alvarce85 (& other people scared of WPB),
Don't be scared! By April 19th, I'm pretty sure the FTL campus will be full, b/c Tracy already told me it is full, unless they don't get a few deposits (and they already have people on a waiting list for those seats).

Anyhow, WPB is absolutely gorgeous- okay the campus is not massive and paved with marble and pillars and stuff like that like the main campus but it really has a lot going for it- the class size is 40 people, 1/3 of the size of the main campus (which means you get a little more ATTENTION!). Additionally, you get a little closer to everyone and I know 3 people that go to school up there right now and they tell me that its very much like a close family up there- I have heard that people in the FTL campus are much more competitive and they don't work together as much- everyone's in constant competition to get on the Dean's List/Chancellor's List and they are constantly knocking each other down (this is only what I have heard, may or may not be fact).

When I visited the WPB campus, I found it to be very cozy- yeah its in an office building, but its got its own charm- everyone is very friendly, people smiled at me in the hallways and were just really cool. As for the whole videoconferencing thing- I saw it in action- it's awesome. Yeah, if you're a traditional student, you might be like WTF is this, but you can ask the teacher questions in class, each class is recorded and posted online so you can watch them over & over, teachers are available by phone and e-mail (which they usu. check 2-3 times/day)- the only way you might not like this system is if you are one of those students that likes to go up to the teacher after class and ask them questions... (I've never really been that type anyway, I've always gone home, re-read and digested the information, then asked the teacher questions by e-mail or however). I also heard that there is only like 10 minutes between classes anyway, so its not like you get a lot of time after class... Anyhow, I'll get off my soapbox now- I just wanted you to know that the WPB campus is awesome and you should go there if you get a chance 🙂 Oh- 1 more thing- the driving in WPB is waaaay less congested and it's a much cleaner city... def check out the beaches if you get a chance 😀 ! Good :luck: on the interview.

Hey Csillag...Dont get me wrong I would Absolutely LOVE to go to the WPB campus. Initially I thought that going to the davie campus would save me money/rent because I live here with family and the davie campus is very close. However, Pharmacy it self is far more important to me. Going to the WPB campus still means that im going to NOVA and being class of 2010. My question was.. what are my chances since they are already full at davie. My interview is so late april 19th...Im just hoping that there are still seats left. I just hope that I get in. What do you think my chances are ??? I have great GPA and Pcat score. Im just worried about the timing. Well im going to stop worrying and try to prepare my self the best I can and leave the rest up to fate. I hope to see you at WPB !!!...Take Care

Hey, no problem! I don't think you need to worry about keeping your answers short. I later found out that the one unfriendly lady who did my interview was actually a fill-in for another professor that couldn't make it. So I doubt you will have her anyway. Most other people had "regular" interviews (15+ minutes and more conversational), so I wouldn't stress over it. You are better off being thorough with your responses than not giving them enough. Plus, it will show that you've really thought about "why pharmacy" and "why nova."

Best of luck, let us know how it goes! Oh, and I will be attending the Ft. Lauderdale/Davie campus.😀

Hey thanks guys I appreciate all your help. Believe it or not Im feeling a little bit better now. Im not as worried as I was before. If they are taking the time to interview me then I still may be considered. I was just a little worried about the # of seats left at WPB. Like I said earlier Im just going to leave that up to fate and hopefully everything turns out great. If anyone does find out how many seats are left let me know I'd appreciate it. Thanks again and congrats to you guys who got in 👍 !

for those that have been accepted im just curious as to what your Q/A were for your interview... I know the questions are in the interview feedback...but what were some of your answers and what did you find to be the best way to prep for your interview ???...thanks in advance and congrats again for those that have been accepted  and for the others who are still waiting good luck 👍 !!! After im done with my interview i'll post a summary of it.

hey alvarce85, good luck with your interview..I was interviewed back in March 9....I left NOVa feeling just ok, not so sure of anything. Mine interview was about 15 mins and they asked those basic questions like why nova, why pharmacy, and since I applied lots of schools, they asked "why many schools, you don't mind where you will go,..."...Just be yrself, smile and be confident..It's true that I couldn't read what the interviews were thinking, but I kept good eye contact, relax and answer questions clearly...Come there prepared, and be confident..You got an interview b/c they want you there.. :luck:

First, I had to inmigrate to the state, later I was first in architecture (familiy pushed me into it), later I moved into engineering but I realized that there are not too many choices (jobs) in chemical engineering. Now, I am thinking about pharmacy. Would NOVA preffer students with biology major or something like that? I am 25 so I need to be realistic. 😕

I just read a post where someone with a French major got in...

I’m starting to feel a little bit more confident. I think I'll be ok. I just have to practice and try to make my self feel comfortable and confident. I just don’t want to be that person who says "um...hmmm....uhh..like..." but I think I’ll be ok. Thanks guys believe it or not with your advice and speaking to a few friends I feel much better. I have also come to realize how lucky I am just do get an interview. Well thanks again ...Wish me luck and pray for me 🙂

Hey mirelseoane don’t worry about that. Just make sure you do your best on your PCAT and your prereqs. Everything else you have no control over. Just apply and wait. You will be surprised as to how many interviews you will get. Oh yeah and the major thing I wouldn’t sweat it. If anything it may give you and edge over all the typical bio majors and if it is still bothering you...you can somehow try to tie an explanation into your personal statement....but like I said PCAT, GPA are far more important and if you have a chance get some pharmacy experience ...it will only help....Good Luck and be confident!!!!

people changed their interest a lot, so it's normal 🙂
If you want to get into any pharmacy schools, (ex: NOVA), just like other students, you need to do fine in those requirement classes and also study for your Pcat...Besides you may want to do some volunteering in hospital, shadowing or a job in pharmacy field..If you want to study pharmacy, you more likely need to do those things..So hey good luck and hang on.... :luck: 🙂

I forgot to tell you that I am volounteing in a hospital and my gpa is almost perfect. All the technicians at the hopital want to go to pharmacy school and specially Nova due to its the closer location, however, somehow they say that they had try two or three times to get into the school. I was very scare when I heard that, however, I know some people that got in on their first try, so I think that maybe they were mean for no reason. To broad my chances I will apply to all schools in florida and also at Lecom

My friend Edward was in your group for the interview. He got his interview on March 2nd. I already had my interview on Feb 21st. Do you know how long it takes for them to tell you whether you got in or not?

Hey there... I was just wondering if Ed got accepted or not.

I am an English/History major and haven't had problems becuase I don't have a science related undergrad degree. Good scores, a good science GPA, and the ability to communicate seem to be what they want. Best of luck and hope you go where you want to go :luck: !

Does anyone know if Nova will have a white coat ceremony for the class of 2010 and their family members?

Yes Nova has a white coat ceremony a month after orientation.

According to the website, orientation is August 6-12th and classes begin on August 14th. It would make more sense if orientation is really the 7-11th (Monday-Fri.), but I really don't know. So the white coat ceremony is for our families too? I thought I heard that it was held during orientation sometime, but I guess that's not the case. I find it weird that it would take place a month into school. Hmm?

Which interivew group just got accepted. I heard that they accepted a girl from the march 23 group. I had my interview on march 31. Anyone know of someone getting accepted around that date?

pharmv are you waiting too? i was on 3/23 and i haven't heard anything. i fear i may be one of the few that gets denied after an interview.

YOU SHOULD NOT WORRY.
I interviewed on 3/15 and haven't heard anything yet, the adcom meets only once a month, so no decision has been made for those of you who interviewed after 03/13!
We should receive a letter from NOVA pretty soon!

ok good, thats encouraging!

For those of you wondering, I spoke to Crystal today and they are still interviewing. That is all info I got but, for those of you who still haven't heard a peep from NOVA, there may be hope. Best of :luck:

I just received my acceptance letter today!! (which is my birthday too!)

I checked the Ft Lauderdale campus box and sent my deposit today!

I interviewed on 3/15!

Good luck to everyone!

That Sunday is an orientation for your family and you as well as a luncheon. The rest of the week is an orientation for you..it is long and boring..have fun- but they have a social one night for the class. The white coat ceremony is for you and your family..this year ours was in mid Sep- it was in the middle of a hellish week where we had 3 exams. The white coat def is not during orientation week- it is for med and dental. I think they want you to have to suffer and wear dress clothes for a month before getting into scrubs..j/k. There is this one fraternity there (I am not in a fraternity), that if you pledge, you can not wear scrubs till you are initiated which is like at the end of the semester. The fin aid package info is available now for 2nd and 3rd years we are getting 7,930 in private loans instead of the 3000 from last year. Sub and Unsub is the same. They said the deans denied our request to increase the budget (we will keep working on them) but fin aid worked out some glitches to get us more private loans, as well as for next year I believe there will be summer fin aid too if you take classes. 🙂 3 more weeks till schools out!!

Does anyone know if we are able to arrange and complete our 4th year rotations out of state? I know some schools allow you to have that option.

It's completely up to the rotation site. The school and site need to sign an agreement.

Please don't tell me the orientation for Pharm.d. students will be whole one week long 😴 ....Some schools do it within 2 days...I'm hoping that it won't be a whole week at NOva..

For those already got accepted to Nova, do you guys receive anything else after yr acceptance package????? They said that many more letters will be sent later, I don't see anything coming yet....

futurepharmd,

I go to Nova and I hate to tell you orientation does indeed last an entire week, I remember being totally exhausted when school actually started. Depending on what site you are at determines what times you have to be there, honestly they should cram it all into 2 days. Check their website because I noticed they posted orientation info.

Hope this helps
Patricia

Does anyone know if NOVA is done interviewing?

I'm a p3 pharmacy student at the west palm beach campus. If any nova pharmacy student here attending the west palm campus who needs a place to stay, hit me back since I'm looking for a female roommate. The rent is $525 + 1/2 utilities (power, cable internet, cable tv)=$625 a month total. Unit is near school and has washer and dryer in unit. Any apartments here under $800 a month is most likely a government housing (or ghetto) so its best to spend a little more and have a room mate.
