For those of you interviewing 9/22, did you receive anythign in the mail from them like a packet? i havent recieved any packets yet.... and how long did it take to get to you once they asked you to interview??

They take so long to respond and never pick up the phone..

I received a packet ohhh probably 2 weeks after I confirmed the interview, it basically took forever.

Anybody know Nova's acceptance rate after an interview? I think DMU's is like 88%...

I also have an interview on the 22nd and it took about 1.5 weeks to get the packet and I feel your phone woes. I could never get anybody who knew what they were talking about on the phone. Good luck and I'm sure it will come. 👍

Everyone see the NSU (the school wants to be called NSU, not NOVA) interview thread above--I posted some advice about staying with students when you come down that I think is important.

🙂

I have an interview on the 25th... i also have not received a packet...... about contacting them.... i've always been pretty lucky i guess...call (800)356-0026 ext. 1124......

Congrats to all on landing an invite to NSU👍

I'm wondering about the process at NSU; AACOMAS sent my application on 9/3 to NSU but still nothing.
How long did it take after AACOMAS sent your application to NSU for you to get a secondary and how long did it take after you submitted secondary to get invite to interview?😕

Thanks in advance.

jesus..its only been 5 days since they sent it out..give it some time..

an answer, instead of unsolicited advice, would be appreciated, i.e., how long did the process take for you? does everyone get a secondary?

DrMikeyLu is right. Just give it some more time. They sent your app on 9/3, which means its gonna take a couple of days for NSU to get it. Then NSU has to process it and e-mail you the secondary. I'd say expect something late this coming week.

Again, I'm asking for information, not advice. For example, does NSU send secondaries to all applicants. If you have some info I'd appreciate it.

the advice is to wait.....if u didnt pick up on that already

🙁 ok, moving on

can someone please give me some info as to how long the process was for them?
thanks in advance.🙂

It took about two weeks to receive a secondary from them after my AACOMAS was sent. However, I was in the first batch of apps sent, so there was no major influx of apps as there is now. So really, you're probably looking at 3+ weeks until you receive a secondary.

u should get a secondary within the next week...and an interview invite about a week or 2 after you send in the 2ndary

thanks folks🙂 and good luck Boner on your upcoming interview

just wanted to say good luck to those interviewing at NSU later today (it's 1:40 AM on 9/11). Hope your day goes well and let us know how it went when you get a chance. :luck: I am heading there later this week so let me know how the weather is down there! 😀

A belated good luck to those interviewing today! Let us know how it goes; mine is on Friday.

bumpin' for anyone that interviewed yesterday.

got my interview email tday😎

Good luck DRKUBA
I interviewed there Monday along with 11 other fine candidates. I was very impressed with NOVA. Everyone was very pleasant and went out of their way to help. One professor was looking for one or two students to sit with us during lunch and instead four of them showed up. They were very open and answered all of our questions. The interview was very laid back (for me anyway) and the dean was funny and appeared to be a super nice guy.
Everyone around NOVA seemed to be happy to be there and the facilities were out of this world. As far as DO programs go I have made up my mind already.
Delia is supposed to call us next Friday with a response. I am certainly anxiously waiting.

I hope that the issue you had with your misplaced LOR will not influence your decision. Good luck with the interview and I hope it is just as positive as mine.

Anyone else interviewing on Friday (9/15)?

So they said that they will make a decision about your acceptance within a week?????????? wow, thats quick.
I'm interviewing there on 9-25 🙂 It's my first interview. and i realllllllly want to go to NSU....a lil nervous....

a quick question..... i am also applying to MD schools...and i listed all the shcools im applying to on the secondary....so in my interview, if they ask me why am i applying to both DO and MD schools....how would you guys respond to that???

Good luck DRKUBA

so do the interviews really get finished by 2pm or get it take a little longer? i'm on a little bit of time constraint and thinking about booking returning flight a couple of hours later.

Congrats on ur first interview DRKUBA...at NSUCOM!

Ive been waiting on NSU since Aug 12 when my file got complete...only LECOM interview so far. So u got an email from them u say...not a phone call...good to know! Good luck! NSU wont even tell me if they reviewed mt file yet.

So I just got my Interview packet today ( that was quick!), and one of the letters says that we can ask to stay with one of the members of the COM Student Ambassador Program... but I cannot find the info on their website... anyone know anything about this?

kind of found the answer to this, thanks to kakai.

Anyone else interviewing with Kylecare and I on October 10th? There has got to be some other people on SDN ( even though I don't know how big hte interview groups are.)

Groups are usually less than 15...I think they aim for 12-14 probably.

yeh that's what i've been hearing...around groups of 12...

I have a question about the interviewees....can anyone tell me if its individual interviews with 2 ppl or 3 ppl..or is it a panel interview with all your interviewees asking you questions at the same time??

I just recieved an interview invite (yay!) I chose 10/19 because I have to work on Mondays, so it's easier for me to fly out on a Wednesday. I just have some questions. Do you get any conformation after you email them back with your date selection? I just emailed them, so I'm not expecting anything now, but I don't want to book a flight if they tell me that my original date was full and I have to go on another day.

Also, once I get there, do I need to rent a car or is there any public transportation? The only time I've been to Ft. Lauderdale is when I went on a cruise, so I really didn't stay there. Also, are there any places nearby to stay? I'd rather not stay with a host because it is possible my sister might come with me.

And this question is more for the girls. What do you wear for an interview in warm weather? I wore a pants suit to my last interview, but it was in Boston and it was fairly cool when I was there. I'm assuming a skirt suit might be more comfortable? Probably in a lighter fabric. My suit is a fairly heavy fabric, wool I think, because most schools I applied to are in the colder parts of the country.

Thanks to anyone who takes hte time to help me out.

I wore a conservative skirt suit of medium heft. That is what most other girls wore. There were two girls in pant suits. All the guys wore full pant suits with jackets. Everyone wore their entire ensemble the whole time. We were only outside for a few minutes during the day so temperature is not really a worry. Good luck, guys. I hope you all enjoy NOVA as much as our group did.

you won't get a confirmation email from NSU, more like a packet with confirmation of the interview date 1-2 weeks after you contacted the admissions office.

If you are staying near the school, there may be a shuttle that will take you to the interview spot but you may have to research that a little. If you are staying closer to the beach (that's where I stayed) I recommend renting a car for at least the interview day. I rented a car for two days, I drove to the school on the day prior to the interview so I would know the way. Rental was about $45-$50 a day, but a cab ride from the beach to the school will cost you $40 one-way. Also if you are staying near the beach but choose not to rent a car, there are buses ($1 per ride) all the way up an down the beach (road A1A) and Sun Trolleys that are free but take tips. I hope this info helps, if you are staying in town for a few days to check out the area, I definitely recommend renting a car, the cabs there are complete rip-offs.

places that were cool to check out was Las Olas road, Sawgrass mills, and if it's rainy perhaps Glen-something mall (on the bus route). Definitely lay on the beach if you get a chance, the water was great.

🙂

One student vs 2-3 Faculty members.

thanks kaikai!

and Musiclink... congrats on your interview 🙂 I'm from Florida...and yeh its always sunny, but a pant suit will be fine....you dont really go outside too much during the interview so it wont be a big deal.. but a WOOL suit would probably be too hot 🙂 So either wear a lighter material suit or a skirt is fine also... whatever you're comfortable wearing. Anyone interviewing on 9-25??

Thanks, I'm thinking I will be hot in the suit, although I'm not sure if it's really wool, but I think it is. Either way, it's pretty warm, good for the colder weather places. Since you're from Florida, maybe you would know, is it a long drive from Miami to the school? I have a great aunt who lives in Miami, and she said I could stay with her, and maybe stay a few extra days because her apartment is on the beach.

Hmmm from miami...honestly..it depends exactly what part of miami you're talking about..cuz miami's so big!! Buttttt it will probably be AT LEAST an hour drive in the morning traffic.....if i was you, i'd play it safe and spend the nite at a close by hotel...and visit your aunt after the interview 🙂 Lemme know if you have any more questions!

Don't worry about being hot...the school is kept at a nice cool 68 degrees on the average day. I wear long pants, long sleeves, and hooded sweatshirts to the library to study most weekends.

If you REALLY think you are going to be hot (and are female), wear a skirt suit instead of a pants suit.

From Miami, it definately does depend on how far south you are. From true Miami, I would expect an hour drive/parking in the am but I would give myself more like an hour and a half acutally--I would MUCH rather be early for an interview than late...and nobody knows when there is going to be a crash on crazy 95. From Adventura/North Miami beach area, you can expect more like 35-40 minutes IF traffic cooperates.

If you want to be safe--stay up here the night before the interview, and then enjoy the weekend with your aunt on the beach.

Thanks for the drive time. I also would rather be early. I think they said the day starts at 9, so if that's true, I would leave at 7 and grab breakfast once I'm there so I know I'm nearby. I'm not actually sure where in Miami she lives. I know she lives 2 or 3 blocks away from the beach, and I want to say she's about a 15 minute drive from South Beach, but I'm not too sure. My problem is I've already spent so much in this whole process, that I am having a hard time spending any more than necessary. I know in the long run, it won't really matter, but it's hard to remember that when you slowly watch yourself spending more money than your paycheck is, and your bank account slowly starts draining.

anybody else interviewing with me at NSU on monday 9-25????
