Hi, I've been scouring this site and the web to get some info about Westchester General Hospital in Miami. I'm strongly considering ranking it as #1 for my clinical rotations but I can't find anyone who knows anything about it.

ANY info/anecdotes/hearsay/contacts/names etc. would be immensely appreciated. If it's a solid hospital then wonderful. But if it has a rep as "malignant" then I'd rather stay where I'm at.

I'm really sorry for not saying which of the 3 schools listed in the title I attend. I'm not trying to be shady. It's just that the admin at my school has us all a bit paranoid.....

Thank you so much guys.

I have absolutely no idea about rotations at the hospital. I can only speak about my personal experience with the hospital as a whole.

It is one of the smaller hospitals in the city. It is located right off the Palmetto Expressway which is extremely busy during rush hour. That being said, it's not a tremendously busy facility. I volunteered in the ER of a similar hospital and you mostly get overflow (non-serious emergencies) from the larger hospitals.

I don't think it's going to be a bad place to rotate, just not very exciting, lol.

Unless you have a legit reason i.e. "my mom has cancer and lives in miami so then i can be close to here" I would avoid Westchester. I haven't rotated there personally, but worked with residents who did and I was not impressed. I think a lot of it has to do with the volume and level of acuity they see. A lot of the stuff gets sent to Broward instead.

I don't think their FM program will survive after the merger. However, if one has the opportunity to train there because of whatever circumstances, do it...

Can you clarify please? Do you recommend that I train there versus other places? Or what do you mean? Thank you.
