How on earth do those of you that go to NOVA handle the every Monday exam schedule? Those of you that don't live in Florida - do you have time to go home once or even twice a month on the weekends?

Any insight you can provide will be great.

Thanks.

If you go to SCCO the exam schedule changes quarterly, but expect to have at least one and many weeks two exams.

Hi,
I've gotten a few messages asking where my blog is so I figured I'd let you know as well just in case you haven't seen it (or maybe you have and you're looking for a different opinion). But just in case, go to the top lil optometry tab on any SDN page and instead of picking "forums" pick "blog". I've been writing for about a month and a half now. You can find PLENTY of info on how I keep up with the test schedule. 🙂
P.S. Having so many exams IS rough, but the alternative of having a grade depend on only a midterm and a final is much scarier to mel....
Best of luck,
Amanda

Personally, I love the Monday exam schedule. It beats having them all over the place, plus you know what you need to do the previous week and if you don't get it done, you have the weekend to fix it.

As far as going home, you can do it occasionally, but it can HURT. I made the mistake of going home on a weekend before two difficult tests on the same day and boy did my grades suffer 🙁 But if you pick the right times, it shouldn't be a big deal. I mean, not every Monday test is a difficult one.

As far as wanting to go home once a twice a month, I hardly doubt that you will want to anyway. While school is a time for hard work, it is also a time to make new friends and have fun...especially in the gorgeous FL weather.

Hey Everyone,

Thanks so much for your input -- I appreciate it! I am still having a hard time deciding between schools though and the deadline for the final deposit at NOVA is quickly approaching.

One more question - is the Monday exam schedule only for first years or does it continue from 1st year to 3rd year.

Thanks!

It's a second year occurance as well. Seriously, though. It's not a bad thing. Certainly something that shouldn't sway your decision....
