I know there are plenty of these "which school should I pick" threads, but id really appreciate some advice about this matter. Im fairly split with regards to both of these school.... any words of wisdome anyone?

with no explanation... BU

They are 2 very different schools in even more different cities.

Do you like cold or warm? (weather)
city or close to beach?
ft. lauderdale is a laid back party place, Boston is a fast paced city
where do you want to end up practicing?

you can come up with similar questions about the curriculum.

I've lived in Boston and now I live in Ft. Lauderdale. I moved down here specifically because I love warm weather...and they just so happen to have a decent dental school that I got into (post-moving)!

BU has a relatively good reputation, but Boston just isn't my kind of town. I really enjoy driving (and parking) wherever I go...I enjoy not having to put on layers of clothes before going out...I like leaving my windows open (most of the year) and getting fresh air...I like not having to scrape ice off my car...and I especially love not having to take the subway to get where I need to go.

Plus, many students at Nova are VERY happy with their choice...and seem to be relatively happy in spite of the stresses of dental school.

I love southern Florida and the only way I would have go to another school would be if they moved the school down here for me!

🙂

I'm still hoping to get into Nova so i'm going to say you should go to BU no questions asked.

BU 110%. You would be crazy to pick Nova over BU

The biggest factor here is location and weather. Im extremely happy at BU, but I could also see myself being happy at Nova, since I love warm weather. If you want more city life and dont mind 4 seasons (with harsh winter), then you'll like BU. Otherwise, hit up south Florida and go to Nova. Either way, you will have a great time.

I have lived both in Boston for two years and the Miami/Fort Lauderdale/ West Palm Beach area for 18 years and my parents still live there.

Wow, this IS TOUGH!!!

In terms of cost, BU might be a little more expensive than Nova. But check it out.

Both schools are very good. You would have big patient pools in either Miami or Boston. And both dental schools are about equal in quality. Which school, does have the higher postgraduate rate? Which school has a higher board average? Which, MOST IMPORTNATLY, IS MORE expensive WITH living expenses!!!

First choose, the cheaper school over anything else!

In terms of education and location, they are exactly equal.

By the way,
Fort Lauderdale is not so much laid back anymore. South Florida is looking more and more like New York/ New Jersey South with the constant building and turning apartments into condominimums and the skyrocketing real estate there.
