I just thought some of you might like to know that Nova is going to release a new MCAT book later on this year. I e-mailed Nova to find out if they are going to update their MCAT physics book and they e-mailed me back with this:

Dear Customer:

The MCAT Physics Book is being combined with our Biology and Chemistry books into one updated 1300 page book entitled: MCAT Prep Course.

It is scheduled to be released in 4 months.

Thank you,

Nova Press

I never heard of nova press before...are they any good??

From the reviews I have read in this forum and on several sites such as amazon.com, Nova?s MCAT physics book is one of the best MCAT physics book available. So after reading all the good reviews for the book, I ended up buying Nova?s MCAT physics and biology book at borders several days ago and I must say I?m quite impressed with their books. I?m taking the MCAT for the first time in April, so I will be supplementing my MCAT prep with Nova?s MCAT books and also with EK?s MCAT books.

Do you have a link to Nova Press? I'd like to ask them a couple questions too.
Thanks!

most people seem to think the Nova physics book is great but I never saw anything positive said about the Nova Biology or Nova Chemistry texts

The Nova MCAT biology book has received good reviews from the searches I have done on the web and that?s the primarily reason I bought it. However, the Nova chemistry book has received luke warm reviews, so I decided not to buy it. I will be selling my Nova MCAT physics book and biology book so I can use that money to buy Nova?s MCAT Prep course book when it?s released.

I got some hand-me-down Nova books the first time I studied for the MCAT. The chemistry book was awful and had errors on some basic concepts, so I tossed it after a few pages. The biology book didn't help that much. The EK and BR books are better, depending on what you need. EK keeps it simple and BR has all the facts you could ever want. Nova misses because it fits in the middle area, which isn't that useful.

I don't see why Nova would want to take a physics books that is okay and pull it down by attaching it to their other books. Will you still be able to get the physics book without having to get the other stuff?

Thenagain, I don't really care because I'm going to own the exam this time. 😀
