Hi everyone... I'm down to my last two secondaries and I have some questions for you...

1. Did you type out your NOVA secondary? It's so awkward, being a three-page fold out.

2. For those of you that have called them, have you found that they are slow to respond (if they do at all)?

I started filling mine out by hand... and then changed my mind. I called and asked for another one to be mailed to me... but that was 2 weeks ago and my mailbox is still empty. I realize they were just hit with the hurricane this past weekend... but I think I'm going to need to call in again.

I handwrote my secondary, and truthfully, I don't see the big deal between typing it and handwriting it. They are more interested in what you write, not what your handwriting is like. Also, they are pretty slow at responding, I would try calling again if you really need another one. Don't leave a message, just keep trying until you reach someone (I found late afternoon to be the best time). Goodluck!

They send me electronic secondary application and would send me a paper application if i want.Has this been the case for all of you?

I didn't know they had an electronic version!!! I'm going to call them right now!

They didn't give me an option to do the electronic version..so I don't know anything about it, sorry.

I didn't get an electronic version but I'm sure if you requested one they would send it to you. I just typed up mine in Word, and attached the sheet with the questions and answers. On my application I just wrote "see attachment." It's that simple don't worry about it. 😀

That's exactly what I did too. 👍

I think I did the same for LECOM also. Was that one a booklet-style? Oy! I can't remember what all these applications looked like. 😱

Good thing I keep a binder with a tab for each school. I'm obsessive about writing myself notes about status checks and when I sent stuff out.

just type out the long parts such as the applied schools and if there were any essays. I remember it was a little long but much easier than a few other schools I applied to.

I handwrote mine with an erasable pen. I actually erased and revised a large part of my essay just before I was about to send it.

I don't think they would care much if you typed it and attached. They see thousands of these things...

I received the online secondary, filled it out and submitted it before I received the mailed secondary. I just received an email from NOVA confirming my "essay received." The online application does not ask for an essay, I don't think, they just have an "essay questions" section asking for general employment and health-care history. I looked at the mailed application and they ask the typical "why do you want be a DO" essay question. I looked again and again and had my husband look again thru the online application for this same question. Could not find it. I'm worried! They say they received my online app and now its ready to be reviewed but it has no essay. Did any of you guys fill out the online app and find this question? I even looked on the "sign and send in" page and did not see a request for an essay there either. I don't even know how they said they received an essay if I didn't submit one.
Either way I just sent Admissions an email and an attachment with my essay. I hope I wasn't dumb and just couldn't find it on the online application, but I looked and looked and looked. Any of you who filled out the online secondary app, please let me know your input....
