Hey guys/girls, I was wondering if anyone here could help me out. These are the requirements for admission to the school of pharmacy at NSU. I was just confused about a few things. I have completed the part that I bolded, which is general bio OR A&P. But why is there another A&P right above it? And why does it say only 3 semester hours? I was looking through the course wizard and the only A&P classes are 4 credit classes (lab). Anyone know why?

-English 6 sem. hrs.

-General Chemistry and Laboratory 8 sem. hrs. 13 qtr. hrs.

-Organic Chemistry and Laboratory 8 sem. hrs. 13 qtr. hrs.

-General Biology 3 sem. hrs. 5 qtr. hrs.

-Anatomy and Physiology 3 sem. hrs. 5 qtr. hrs.

-General Biology or Anatomy and Physiology* 4 sem. hrs. 6 qtr. hrs.

-Calculus (for science majors) 3 sem. hrs. 5 qtr. hrs.

-Statistics (not Business Statistics) 3 sem. hrs. 5 qtr. hrs.

-Speech 3 sem. hrs. 5 qtr. hrs.

-Macroeconomics 3 sem. hrs. 5 qtr. hrs.

-Microeconomics 3 sem. hrs. 5 qtr. hrs.

-Social/ Behavioral Sciences/Humanities** 15 sem. hrs. 20 qtr. hrs.

xxxSide Note: The italicized courses I have already completed. Also, the social/beh./hum. will be complete after Winter 2009.

Oh and just another question for those who might know... is the A&P requirement for Human Anatomy and Physiology OR Anatomy and Physiology?

Basically they are stating that you have to complete either Biology II w/Lab or A&P II w/Lab. You must complete General Biology I and A&P I, but the lab is not required. It looks like you need to go back and take General Biology I only since you have completed both A&P I and II. Did you complete the lab for any of your A&P classes?

Yeah I already took Bio I last semester, and I'm taking Bio II this semester. I haven't taken A&P yet though, which I'm gonna do next semester. I don't think I need A&P II do I?

You don't need A&P II, but you do need A&P I. Also be sure to take the lab with your Biology II to get the required 4 credit hours.

Okay thanks, I appreciate it. And yeah my Bio II is w/lab. Looks like I'll have my pre-reqs done right after Fall '09.

I was gonna ask... since I'll be done with pre-reqs by Fall '09, should I take the PCAT during that time? Then I guess I can apply to pharm school for the Fall '10 year.

If you will have finished General Chemistry I and II, Biology I and II and Organic I and Calculus before June 09, then I would try to take the PCAT in June 09 or August 09 to beat the rush of applicants. It takes like eight weeks for PharmCas to receive your results, so be safe than sorry.

I just want all of you to know to not limit yourself to Nova. I like all of you were in the same situation last year with finishing credits and had very high credentials and still did not get in. I am a p1 at LECOM-bradenton florida. My gpa was a 3.73 and my pcat was a 83 and it took nova forever to get back to me. I was not even offered an interview. They told me they the dean decided they wanted to see organic 1 done before the fall semester otherwise you would not be considered for admission. They told me that even though i had a competitive gpa that the timing of my credits was just not in time and therefore they were unable to offer me a seat in their class. A lot of us found out that the dean had put this into affect after we had already applied and paid, which was very unfair, but oh well. Welcome to the hell that is called Pharmacy application. Be patient because it takes forever and good luck to all of you.
