Hello everyone! Has anyone who had an interview with NSU this October heard anything back? They said it can take up to two weeks, but I was wondering if anyone has heard anything. Thank you!

I had my interview on Sep26 and haven't heard anything yet

Ok thank you for the feed back. I had mine on Oct. 3. Hopefully we hear something soon!

NOVA takes the full 2 weeks to get back to you after interviews. You can call the admissions number to get the status. They will send you an email with the decision

yes hopefully we'll hear back soon, I called NOVA and admission people said I should hear from them by the end of October. Fingers crossed its good news!!!!

Anyone interviewed in November heard anything back yet???

Hi Kimole! I interviewed in the beginning of October, and didn't hear back until the end of October. It felt like forever at the time lol. When was your interview?
Anyone else interviewed and accepted to Nova's MOT program?

I got a letter saying I am a "hold candidate" and am really hoping there is still a chance of acceptance! Has anyone else been put on hold or know the likelihood of acceptance????

Hi OThopeful504! When I had my interview in person in October I took a tour around campus with a couple students already in the program. One of the students told me he had his interview through skype and was wait listed. However, he did end up getting accepted into the program. I do not know the details on how long it took, but stay positive, you definitely have a good chance!

Woo you just made my day haha! Thanks I'll keep my fingers crossed then! I really thought I'd get in without waitlist. The competition is INSANE! Eeeek!

Hey OThopeful, when was your interview??

It was good! It was via Skype on October 24th and I got a letter around November 15th saying I was a Hold candidate. They told me the latest I would find out is March 15th whether or not they accept or decline me. I am keeping my fingers tightly crossed that I get in! Congrats runnerchic13!

Need help! just found out today that I was accepting into Nova's MOT program and the OTD program - need help deciding. for those who have accepted to either - what have been your determining factors?

For those interested, I interviewed December 6, and just got the email today.

Just received my acceptance letter to Nova's MOT program! =)

Anyone have any idea on what happens next? Will they provide us more information on applying for housing, registration, etc. after we submit our deposit?

Does anyone know when registration occurs?

First off, congratulations on getting accepted into both programs! That's awesome!

I asked a lot of OTs what their opinions were on doctoral programs, and most told me not to do it for these reasons:
  • Although OT is moving towards a doctorate (like PT), when the change does happen, everyone holding a master's degree will just get grandfathered in (like those who held a bachelor's when they made the move into MOT).
  • There is no pay difference between an MOT and OTD in salary.
  • It is only worth it if you want to do research and/or teach.
I definitely took all these into consideration (if you want to know my opinions on it, let me know!), but the deal breaker for me about Nova's OTD program was that it was a hybrid program with most content taught online. I'm not much of an online learning kind of girl & just the thought of having to travel to Tampa at least once a month was tiring in itself! I didn't think paying extra tuition PLUS travelling and housing expenses every month would be worth it (just thinking about it again stresses me out haha), so I decided only to apply to the MOT program.

Anyway, that's my two cents. Let me know what you decide! If you choose the MOT program, I'll be your classmate! 🙂

Had a skype interview with NOVA Dec 12 and i still haven't heard back. Anyone else in the same boat?

Got my acceptance email earlier this week and am so excited to meet my future classmates! 🙂 Maybe we can get a Facebook page going? Has anyone visited the campus or know of any nice places to live in the area? I'm going there in March to check it out and would love to know where to look before I get there. Thanks!!!

I'm going to attend the backstage pass event in Feb. Would love to have a Facebook group started. I'm sure a lot of us have similar questions.

Where are you guys coming from? I'm from California.

Hey guys! I tried to create a facebook group, but it won't let me without adding people to it (guess you can't really have a "group" with one person. ha). So if one of y'all could add me on fb & just message me that you're in my cohort or something, I'll go ahead and make the group.

Oh, and if you couldn't tell by the "y'all," I'm from Texas 🙂

I'm from Wisconsin, by the way. So looking forward to getting out of the cold and moving to Florida!!

Hey guys! I will be attending Nova's MOT program and am actually from the area so if you guys need help with housing info or whatnot, feel free to ask. Can't wait to meet you all soon!!

Congratulations on all of y'all getting into NOVA Southeastern's program! I just received an e-mail today, asking for an interview this week. Due to the short notice, it will have to be conducted via Skype. What type of questions were you asked in interview? Did anyone interview via Skype? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully, I'll be joining one of those Facebook groups soon, too 😉

Hey guys! I am very excited to meet everyone! I am from Chicago and can't wait to enjoy the warm weather 😉 I have been looking for places to live and have narrowed it down to a few communities. Unfortunately I will not be able to visit there before the beginning of May. I am leaving for Thailand for 5 weeks with my boyfriend. If anyone has any advice on where they are living that would be great. I will look for the facebook group page soon.

Thanks for posting! What areas would you suggest for housing? I've looked at a lot of surrounding cities, but it would be great to get some insight as to which are the nicest, safest, best value, etc. Any specific apartments, condos, or townhomes you would recommend?

Good luck with your interview! I did mine via Skype as well, and the two faculty members who interviewed me were very nice. Just be ready for the basics - why you chose OT and why you chose NSU. They might ask a couple of situational questions...just think like an OT and you'll be fine 🙂 Oh, and just an interviewing tip...it's always good to have some questions for them, too! Let us know how it goes!

Thank you so much! My interview is tomorrow afternoon - eeek! One of their current OTD students mentioned that they would ask for a writing sample at the end of the interview. How does that work with Skype?

Hmm...I'm not sure. They didn't ask me for that.

Well, maybe they have nixed that since last year... Fine by me! While I enjoy writing, I imagine it would be super awkward while Skyping.

How long did it take everyone to hear back after the interview? I thought that mine went okay, but it is hard to tell. I also am taking two prerequisites this spring. Has anyone been accepted with pending course grades?

My interview was on a Thursday, and I heard back by the following Monday. However, they did say it could take 2-3 weeks, depending on when the admission committee meets. Not sure about having prerequisites in progress.

Good luck!!

I am taking 2 pre-requisites this spring too. I interviewed on a Friday and heard back via e-mail the following Friday. They also sent a follow-up acceptance letter via snail mail. Hope you hear something soon!

Thank you for your response futureot11!
May I ask how the interview went as well as your gpa, GRE, extra curricular, ect?
I am freaking myself out. Hopefully I will hear good news soon. Have a great day!

Hi All,
Does anyone know what date the last batch of acceptances/rejections went out? I'm hoping it will give me a sense of when the next batch might be coming out. Can you tell I'm getting impatient? 😉 Thanks and good luck everyone!

I emailed NSU today and they told me the admissions panel is meeting next week, so fingers crossed everyone! 🙂

Has everyone heard anything? This waiting game is driving me crazy!

Hey,

I interviewed last Thursday 3/6 and got accepted Friday3/7 via email. I am a Florida resident so maybe that is why they were so soon with the reply. I have been accepted with pending course grades however, they are not prerequisites. This forum really helped me so if anyone has any questions let me know! I also got accepted to FIU. I plan on going to NOVA however! GO SHARKS!

I just got into nova!! I am shaking. I really didn't think that I would get in this year. Does anyone know when school starts??

Orientation is Tuesday, May 27th (the day after memorial day).

This is when class begins or just orientation. I am still taking pre requisites! Oh no!!

This is just orientation. However, I believe that orientation is mandatory for all new students on that day.

When are you done with your prereqs? What did your acceptance letter state you have to submit final grades by?

I'm pretty sure we start taking classes then. I found a link online that said we would be taking 8 credit hours this summer. Is anyone else feeling a little freaked out about this?

Orientation I thought was 16-17th of May and school commences on the 27th. I thought we were taking 9 credits?

Congrats to everyone who got accepted!

Orientation is May 27th and classes begin the 28th. There is a Facebook page that the current year 1 students set up for us, and they uploaded a 2014-2015 academic calendar.

I'm not sure if this has changed or not, but according to their website, the first summer semester consists of Anatomy, Intro to Occupation, and Fieldwork Issues I (7 credits total).

Congrats everyone! Does anyone have to defer a year because he or she is still taking pre requisite courses?
