Hey guys,

So I have been wanting to go to a pharmacy school in Florida and have listed these two as my top choices. They are nearly identical in NAPLEX pass rates, I know that tuition difference is nearly $8k, but does anyone know what advantages these schools have over each other? ex. reputation, school life, teachers, how material is presented to students other than lectures? Any differences on how employers view these schools such as hospitals or retail?

Thanks

^ maybe if it was cheaper ._.
Nova- instate 29k http://pharmacy.nova.edu/pharmd/tuition.html

LECOM instate 22k- http://lecom.edu/financial-aid.php/School-of-Pharmacy-Tuition-Fees/49/2205/621/2475

UF Gainseville 22.8k
UF orlando/jax 21.5k cost of living is cheapest in either gainseville/jax/orlando compared to bradenton and Palm beach. So it's technically the cheapest of the schools listed. https://cop-main.sites.medinfo.ufl.edu/files/2010/10/Tuition-and-Fees-for-2014-2015-2.pdf

Thats not counting fees, nova includes everything in the 29-30k, UF doesnt. You end up payin around 26-27k in UF right? (not including rent). At least thats what I was told by a friend who is attending UF. UF ends up being only around 3-4k cheaper than nova per year. So if u live close to nova, it would be cheaper. And i know nothing about lecom 🙁 I only considered UF and nova when i applied.
I also used this to compare prices :

I know UF is the best in Florida 🙂 but sometimes staying closer to home is better for some people 😛 (and cheaper too)
And I am gonna shut up now lol, the OP is asking about Lecom vs NOVA, not this 😛

no. I take 11-12k a semester in loans. Which covers tuition and I get back about 500 bucks for misc expenses. Ie. Gas and food.

But to the op nova>lecom IMO

Can anyone comment on each school's teaching style?

Also does cost really mean that "get what you pay for"? Lecom is at least 8k cheaper per year, so just wondering if there any downsides to Lecom. Nova has its own reputation and heard lot about it, but I want to make sure I'm making the right choice which will fit me best.

I have a friend who goes to lecom. He is not pleased with lecom overall but to each his own.

I attend NSU COP and I like their teaching tbh. Never thought I would say this but learning isnt actually so bad. Since I face extreme financial hardship, I have to work 27 hours a week at a community college so almost every day i skip class to work, but it is all recorded in tegrity which u access from blackboard and you feel like u never left class. I know I dont set a good example with my attendance, but I do have a 90.43 grade point avg after my P1, where as most of my classmates barely make it to 80 😉 just had to make that point before everyone judges me lol u guys can blame it on the rich parents I dont have haha but honestly, NSU is really good at teaching, they care for their students' learning. Good luck!

Thanks for your input ! I will be attending NOVA this fall... I want to work as well. How many hours do you devote to studying ? How is the campus life?
Are you involved in any groups ?
