Nova Students Cheating?

I assist in a dental office and the dentist recieved a call from a cousing of his that is down there at NOVA and he said that 30 students got caught cheating on a root canal practicum. And that all 30 students got kicked out. Is this rumor true? if so, could you imagine having student loans and not becoming a dentist. Also that is a lot of money that the school is losing in tution and clinic fees.

Just wondering if anybody knew anything about this

Yes, some students in the D2 year were caught being dishonest during an Endo practical, but NO, no students have been kicked out yet. Don't get all excited, this exact issue was mentioned already in another recent thread. Settle down and go back to assisting.

I couldn't pull anything up when I googled it. I would think that this would make some kind of news. If it is true then good ridens.

Trust me, you think NSU Administration will let this type garbbage to go on the news? Better yet, you think local news want this type of garbbage news on their news? Sh1t, last year a psycho jeaulous boyfriend came and shot his girlfriend 14 times and then killed himself here at NSU, that didn't even make the news! The girl who was killed was a second year Optometry student at the time.

Cheat on an Endo practical, on the news? Please!

I heard that the state board has decided to impose punishments on all those that were involved in this scandal and choose to practice in FLA. They will be required to display in their offices a poster stating that they were caught cheating in dental school and the patient should be wary of exceptionally large or unusual treatment suggestions.

That's crap.........just a slap on the wrist. I guess that the school has no choice though. They'll just practice in another state or have 2 offices!
All I know is that I wouldn't want their hands in my mouth with a drill!

I also heard that due to the widespread extent of the problem the integrity of all NOVA grads has come into question. Since it is such a new school they are considering a requirement that all NOVA grads repeat Part II of the boards and the state licensure exam.

Oh, and NOVA grads now have to submit to a prominent multi-colored tatoo on their foreheads prior to being granted licensure. This is so patients can differentiate between NOVA grads and REAL Florida dentists. 😀

The class before my wifes at Nova's PA school was requried to make 20+ students re-take the PA national exam because they were caught cheating. If they wouldn't re-take the exam, nova's PA school was going to lose its accreditation.

My bro in law is going to Nova DO school, I'll ask if cheating is rampant there 🙂
