Hi everyone!
I was fortunate enough to be accepted to Nova and LECOM. There was a thread comparing the two a couple years ago but since LECOM was so new at the time, I feel like the opinions on that thread may not be accurate/ may not apply today.

I’d love to hear from current students at both schools as well as from people who are also currently deciding between the two schools (or have already decided)!

LECOM pros: lower tuition and cost of living, seem to get lots of clinical experience, PBL (although I don’t have strong feelings about it)

Nova pros: more established school (may be better if I want to specialize, but as of right now I don’t think I do), location is more attractive to me

Is the cost difference alone enough to make the decision? Any input is greatly appreciated!

LECOM is cheaper, newer, and doesn't have strange rumors circulating about the program. I got into both as well, and after interviewing at NOVA, I'd prefer LECOM if I didn't get into my top choice. Like all the dentists and current dental students keep preaching, you can specialize out of any school, save the money and attend the cheaper program.

Remember LECOM makes you leave the fourth year to go to either Lake Eerie Pennsylvania, or a small town in the Panhandle, not sure if that's a huge deal to you

I would definitely go with LECOM.

Choosing LECOM over Nova for these exact reasons and more. The vibe and the attitudes were better, nicer, and more honest at LECOM. I also felt they were incredibly more thorough with information regarding cost, payment obligations, handling large loans, and more. Lovestruck for LECOM 😍

Edited to add that fourth year in a different location is a plus for me. No competition with 3rd years for patients.

Yeah, having to move for my fourth year is really the only thing that was making me hesitate. But @Pearl E. White makes a good point about not having to compete with 3rd years for patients. I suppose it won’t be that much of a hassle to leave and go elsewhere for 4th year haha. Thank you everyone for your responses! I really did get a great impression of LECOM at interview day and will definitely accept the offer if I don’t end up hearing back from my in-state school!
