Nova vs Touro?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Nova. I interviewed at touro and hated how uncertain everybody was. I asked the current students and my interviewer questions about clinic and the only answers I could get was everything is tentative. They don’t know how it’ll be structured or how many patients they are expecting. It made me uneasy

Thank you both for your replies! I am surprised though at how the poll is turning out, because I kind of expected Nova to have more votes than I had expected (I am leaning more towards Nova, but wanted to hear as many opinions about Touro as possible, as it is a very new school)

I live in NJ and chose Nova (declined Touro interview). I'm glad I'll be moving to a more relaxed and enjoyable environment. Generally, the environment is a bit more stiff here in the northeast compared to warmer climates. Keep in mind climate/location has a big impact on your mood.

Hmm.. is location the only factor that you would consider Nova has the edge over Touro?

Nova has a history. Touro is a brand new school. You have a choice to go somewhere with an actual reputation.

If you were living at home in westchester, saving +100k in living expenses, then maybe play with the idea of attending Touro. Other wise, I wouldn't want to have thoseworries.

You're going to be a new student. The school is actually as nervous and as new you are. I wouldn't be comfortable with that.

Title says it all, if you had those two acceptances, where would you choose to attend?

Im going to try to give a perspective on both. I had a great time at both, and got accepted at both. Ultimately, I got into Rutgers, my state school and turned them both down.

By Nova, I felt like it was super chilled. They seem to have a great repor between faculty and students. The clinic looked older and there was no private space from what I remember. Students love it there. I did get uneasy from the fact that so many people turn them down, why is that?

Touro similarly was super chilled and it seemed like they were genuinely there to help the students. The facilities are state of the art and gorgeous. Students seem to love it. The clinic is an issue, but I would not worry, since by the time you are in the clinic they will be full. People like to hate on touro without any knowledge about the school, but I honestly had an amazing experience and think its a great school.

I would say touro, and the reason I chose rutgers over touro was for financial reasons only.

Probably because of the problems Nova has been known for in the past, like lack of chairs and patients. But from what I hear from current students there, those problems have been fixed. The relaxed nature of the school could also be a turn off to some.

If price is the about same might as well go to NOVA. Touro would've been cheaper if you were the iauguration class, but alas the third class wont have the same discount the first class had. Tuition rose almost 7% in just 1 year. Which is double the norm.

I chose NOVA just because I really liked the school and also during my interview we spent some time with dean Linda Niessen,
She is bringing new innovations to NOVA . see more here: https://www.asdanet.org/utility-navigation/about-asda/asda-101/press-releases/press-release/linda-niessen-dmd-honored-by-american-student-dental-association-as-2017-paragon-award-winner
I also contacted about 10 current students in D3 and D4 though linkedin and all love the school and the program.
