Anyone been moved off the waitlist yet? Is there hope?
I'm on the waitlist too, but I don't expect to hear anything until at least the middle of May or so.
I'm not sure if this is completely true but from what I understand somewhere around that time the final deadline for Nova passes and anyone who hasn't paid their deposit loses their seat. Then they start offering seats to those on the waitlist. I've been told that a seat could be offered from then all the way up to the week of orientation.
My question is if Nova doesn't rank the waitlist, how do they know who to offer a seat? Is it random?
yeah the deadline for the $1000 pre-registration fee is MAy 15th, so its more likely there will be waitlist movement after that deadline passes
As far as ranking waitlists, thats one mysterious aspect Ive been curious about myself
My best guess would be to send them a typed letter stating your desire to attend NOVA, or indicating it as your top choice
And if u have done any other extra-curriculars since ur interview, to send those in as well
Maybe even another letter of reccomendation
The point is to let the admissions committe know your sincere desire and I think there def is a fine line between sincere desire and looking as if u are "kissing ass" or being desperate
But I think sendine 1 typed letter of intent to attend NOVA, 1 letter of recc and any other extra-curric work is fine and reasonable. Im not sure if there is any exact science to the waitlist process as it varies from school to school, but i have personally talked to students who were on waitlists, employed this technique and gained acceptance, so who knows. Anyways its better than sitting around anxiously right
BESt luck to all and hope to see u guys in NOVA!
I am also on the waitlist for NOVA...so close, yet still so far...Does anyone know if they are still interviewing? And if so, how close are they to filling the desired amount of seats?
I dont know how the NOVA waitlist works specifically. But unranked waitlists work usually like this: they put everyone on the list and then as people drop out they go and review EVERYONE again and see who they want next OR they pick a person who is similar to the person who dropped out.
A helpful site to visit to find out about specific waitlists is medicalgold.com. there is an advisor (GOWER) who will give details about each med school. But I dont know if he has info about DO schools.
Good luck to all of you! NOVA is a really great med school. Hopefully all of you will be accepted.
To my surprise I recevied a message on my answering machine today from NOVA. They moved me off from the waitlist to "full acceptance". So don't worry guys, they are still filling in spots. I didn't send any additional information to them, and my interview was in the middle of October.
However, I will not be going to NOVA this fall. So hopefully one of you guys will get my spot! Best of luck and take care.
