Has anyone interviewed at NOVA yet? I was just wondering what the school was like. Was there something you really liked about the school or anything you really didn't like about the school? I'm just trying to get a better feel for what NOVA is like and I find their website isn't as detailed as some other schools.

If you're a Florida resident go to UF. If you're not a Florida resident go to your state school or elsewhere. If you only get into nova, well then it doesn't really matter what nova is like. Nova seems to be having lots of troubles in clinics and with administration. This was last year, maybe it's changed by now. Doubt it though.

The stuff on the thread you linked may or may not have been three years ago, but it's certainly not true now. The clinic is always busy and there are plenty of third years seeing patients. I have asked some third years about the clinic and they mentioned that they were initially worried about Nova because of SDN or whatever "rumors" they heard, but that the clinic is fine.

The clinics looks fine, and the student giving us the tour said there is a wait list for the patient that could take up to 5 months (meaning there is so many patients that they have to wait 5 months to be seen by a student). We walked by the clinics and it was packed to the brim with patients.

Couldnt tell you what their schedule is like day to day, just know that they are definitely in clinic.

I applied last year and was accepted. However, my top choice school offered me a scholarship that actually made it a little cheaper than my state school. So I was very happy to take them up on the opportunity.

Oh that's awesome. congrats.

I thought maybe you had been rejected because I couldn't see any other reason for you to spend precious D1 time bashing a school you don't know anything about.

I'm currently a fourth year at nova. All the rumors from years ago are not true. I can't speak for how it was then, but it certainly isn't that way anymore. We have a 3-7 month wait list for people who would like to become patients. I have never once had a low supply of patients. You spend five days a week seeing patients your third year at the main clinic in Davie. Fourth year, you rotate thru 5 or so clinics total, all of which are in the South Florida area. A new dean was just chosen about a month ago, so I'd imagine there might be some slight chances in the coming years, which I'd assume would only be for the better. If you guys have any questions, I'll try my best to answer them on this thread.

Whoa, didn't mean to bash nova. I just know its more expensive than UF and probably the OPs state school (if not Florida resident). I did interview there last year, talked with students during the lunch and my tour, and gathered as much info about it to make an informed decision to reject their acceptance. But if you must know, it didn't impress me as much as several other schools. I must have talked to more of the negative students. However, from reading above it seems to have gotten its stuff together. Good luck to you in the rest of your career!

Nova D1 pawn says clinic is great! Lots of people in scrubs and white coats on clinic floor, looks busy!!!!1

They had a 6 month waiting list in 2012.
You waited 6 months from the first appointment to the time you could do dentistry on them.

C'mon Sheeple!

Perhaps it's slightly better now, but the clinic was going down fast 1-2 years ago.

Just telling it how it was. Current d4 says its better, so good for them. I wouldn't put stock in anything d1 or 2's have to say about clinic at nova, because they aren't in there. They know nothing.
