Im aware that you get an email on Monday of match week if you matched or not but do you also get an email of where you matched by email as well or by snail mail through school.

I'd like to know whether i need to be around that week to find out the results of where Im going.

No, you can find out by logging into the NRMP website.

This is, of course, assuming that you match and do not have to scramble.

Check with your school- my school requires us to be present the week of the match (I'm assuming this is in case we need to scramble)

you get an email for both if you match and where (monday and thursday)

At my school, match day announcements started around 10 or so, I believe. Otherwise, I think you got an email around noon on Match Day telling you where you matched.

The advice we were given was to be in town the week of Match Day. As I understand it, the scramble sucks, and it sucks even more if you don't have people (like your dean and medical school staff) to help you if you end up having to scramble. I'd say that unless you absolutely can't help it you should really try to be around for match day/week.
