well everyone, I just got done with my NSU interview and am feeling very good. The campus and students are freakin awesome. I came here with some preconceived notions about the school after reading some negative posts over the months about dress code, attendence etc... but man I am glad I came. The interview was way more laid back than KCUMB and they actually asked me personal questions and made me feel welcome. They truly wanted to get to know me. Everything bad I have heard about this place from pre-meds went right out the window. Now I have some albeit small experience with the school and love it. From now on I will only listen to those who are current students at any school or those who have interviewed. No more he said she said. This makes me excited to check out the other schools I have interviews at. Good luck all. peace

Thanks for the protein boost...

just got back from nsu interview as well and i agree with everything that was said. they really look at your application and ask personal questions, which i like! i felt that they tried to get to know me. plus, the school rocks. the library was phenomenal, really, the whole school was just gorgeous. everyone was nice, faculty, staff and students. no worries about dress code, everyone wears scrubs which is a plus cause they're so comfy! and it's a cute color =) huge school, very diverse. altogether an amazing experience.

ps. nice meeting you, FizbanZymogen.

did they tell you when you will find out the decision? have any hints for future interviewees?

yah man, i'll have to say, the campus was freaking AWESOME! it's HUGE and the school offers so much opportunities in terms of extracurricular activities, international volunteer missions and what not. im so glad i didn't cancel on NSU like i intended.. this school just jumped from the bottom of my priority list to the top

i REALLLY REALLYYYYYYY hope i get accepted though cuz i totally blew the interview!! :scared:

p.s.. it was nice to be able to put faces to SDN nicknames

and they'll call us about their decision on friday.. then we'll get a mailed confirmation sometime next week

Yesterday was a great day indeed. That was an awesome group that interviewed and I think we all had fun. NSU has set the bar high for the rest of my interviews and I was very impressed by the straightforward nature of their admissions process. Looking forward to Friday :scared: and I hope everyone from yesterday gets some good news.

Hey, ya'll. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting all of you who inteviewed yesterday. Hope everyone hears back with good news on Friday. BTW, I second the motion on the campus and faculty/students being awesome. When I got home I called my mom to tell her how it went and of all the amazing programs and facilities they offered, all I could tell her was, "It was HUGE!!!"

Anyway, maybe we will see each other again as classmates next year. Congrats in advance as I really believe everyone who interviewed in our group WILL gain acceptance somewhere this year.

FizbanZymogen- You didn't say your little man was SO cute. Good luck with the whole moving with a family thing.

Thanks! Yeah he's a handfull but we love him. It was great meeting everyone from SDN who interviewed on 9/18. I wish everyone the best in their future medical plans and who knows, maybe I'll see you guys at NOVA or somewhere else.

One of my friends goes there, first year. He likes it a lot. He has to wear scrubs all the time like mentioned, but one of my old friends that goes there doesn't. He wears khakis and a collared shirt even though scrubs are required, lol.

First DO post for me!

theres a guy in our class that wears a football jersey..and scrub pants..lol...and another girl that wears cordoroy jeans and a t-shirt..sooo yea..not strictly enforced

Scrubs aren't required.
Business casual OR scrubs are required.

Essentially...anything that isn't jeans, shorts, or bikinis is acceptable.

i think even if you wore a bikini to class, itd be ok if you had a white coat on and ran around the halls quickly. seriously, the people in our class are wearing stuff analogous to such.

any current nsu students out there? give us an honest breakdown of the shcool... how is the faculty? exam schedule? etc etc.

I like the school. I don't regret my decision to go here, and if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change anything. First year is a lot of basic science, and second year is great because it is all clinical.

Please search my recent posts (last few mos or so) to get a better idea.

You have asked pretty broad questions, if you have anything specific to ask, feel free to PM me.

Like A LOT of you, I almost threw out my interview here...but man after visiting I totally LOVE it!! My only problem is if it's a good school. I have been accepted to KCUMB..which I really really like too..but I just love ft. lauderdale/miami area. I don't know what to do..I'm so confused...any thoughts either way would be great, including quality of school, classes, rotations, residencies, etc...would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same delema between TCOM and NSU I wasn't even considering it at first but after visiting I fell in love with the place but that question in very hard to answer I talked to my advisor and she said the rankings are pretty much crap. Numerically private school statistics will be lower than public school in almost every case. Everyone I talk to about this say its really dependent on what you do with your education and your experience not so much the school itself. Then again you never know I think comparing how the curriculum is set up is also a factor. On top of the cost that was the only other big thing I was concerned about. but if you are really really having trouble I would go visit each school again for at least a weekend so you can explore the school/ area a little bit more so you can base you decision off of that. You can call the admissions office after you get accepted and ask to set up another review of the school atleast according to my knowledge you can do that. Thats what I intend on doing if I am fortunate to get accepted by both. I find out about NSU this friday I find out about TCOM on Oct 16 or so. Crossing my fingers I am also considering UMDNJ which is also another great school I have my interview late Oct. and I am giong to see how I like that too. But visit the schools again if you are still debating don't just depend on numerical data alone. My advise becuase I'm slowly figuring this out.
