For all those planning on attending Nova for fall 2008 (Ft. Lauderdale campus), how much are you taking out in loans? If i'm accepted, I plan on taking out slightly more than $100,000 in loans and am extremely worried i will be burying myself for life with such a debt and that i will never be able to enjoy the financial benefits of a career in pharmacy. In addition to loans, does NSU COP actually offer grants or any type of help that doesn't have to be paid back with interest (similar to pell grants in college, etc..)...i am waiting for a response from the school and will investigating all sources of aid as soon as i receive an acceptance package, if i get one. Hi aniline,

I had mine on Jan 22nd, and he had his on Jan 30th. Don't worry, it'll come. I just got it today, so maybe you will get it by Fri or Sat depending on where u live. Best of Luck🙂
 
Thanks, I had my interview on January 16 and I called NOVA to see why is taking so long they told me that my file is under review still, I don't understand. May I ask you your stats. Thank you, I appreciate it.

Moreover, if you really want to pay it off, you can do it in probably within 2 or 3 years after you become a pharmacist. just work at retail and paid it off. You can make 100~150,000 a year at retails.

i hope you're right....now, i simply have to wait for a response from NSU. I interviewed on February 6th and have to wait until sometime in March.
 
I interviewed Feb 12 and I'm anxiously waiting as well. tiger07, yes, you can take the class in the summer. Which one is it by the way? And out of curiosity, what's included in the package?
 
Thanks! They do accept summer courses. They even have some Humanities online at Miami Dade. Maybe you can even take it in summer A and get it over with.

Hey doc, don't worry about paying back the loans. Once you graduate, there will be opportunities to get sign on bonuses/loan forgiveness that you can use to help pay off your debt. A lot of chain stores will offer you sign on bonuses to work for them for 2-5 years. These bonuses will go a long way to help you get out of debt quicker. Also, many hospitals are starting to offer sign on bonuses and student loan paybacks. Sure you will be >100k in debt, but your salary as a pharmacist will enable you to live comfortably while paying off big chunks of your student loans.

I interviewed at Nova at the end of January and am very hopefully to get in as well. Let me know how everything turns out. Good luck!
 
If I was missing a prerequisite would Nova let me know or do I have to just figure it out on my own?

Hi, you might wanna figure out what classes you need first, if you have any doubts about any of your classes, call and check with them. They have so many applicants, so just be initiative. Don't wait them to contact you abt. missing classes, you need to know now, so you can complete them in Summer. Good Luck.
 
did any1 ever ask if they calculate pre-reqs gpa and how much more they value pre-reqs over ur other non required courses.

They send you a letter with a list of your missing prereqs. after you turn in your supplemental application.

Can you tell me what the school said about your current classes in the acceptance package? Like, do you have to get Cs in your classes, or if you're done with your pre-reqs you can get anything as long as your GPA stays above certain number? Thank you!

Hi LoKoTe,
In the package, one of the letter has a list of things you need to do before registration. One of them is like complete required courses with a grade of "C" or better, so I guess if you pass all your pre-reqs, you should be fine. It also says Nova has to receive an updated transcript within 90 days of registration date or you cannot continue with your classes. GLuck. I hope you hear from them soon🙂.

Congrats aniline! Do you mind sharing your stats? I had my interview at the end of January so I am hoping to hear back from Nova in early March.

How long does it take Nova to get back to you after your interview? Anyone interviewing March 6?

OMG I got accepted !!!!!!! I just received the package! I can't believe I got accepted and that I received the materials so soon! I interviewed the 2nd week of February. I'm SOOO Happy !!!! By the way, where does it say which campus would I be attending? Also, if you're taking non pre-requisites, can you just get any grade?

WOW!!!! Congratulations on getting in! I can't believe you received a response from NSU so quickly. How is that possible? I thought the admissions committee gathers and decides who's getting in at the end of each month, the end of this month being the case. How much paperwork do you have in the package? I hope i hear a response from them soon, considering i interviewed february 6th. Congrats once again. :luck:

Congrats! The package does not say which campus you are attending, but it should be the campus where you interviewed. I am pretty sure that "passing" is good enough for the rest of your classes, prereqs and nonprereqs. Congrats again, if you are attending Davie, we will be classmates. 🙂

Congrats! I guess we'll be classmates next year. And there should be form in the package that asks u to either accept or reject their offer. The first sentence should say something like " I agree to accept the offer for a seat at the Ft. Lauderdale program". That means davie. If it says palm beach of course its palm beach. At least thats what it said on my form. Well congrats again!
 
on and i forgot. i am in the same boat. i am taking non-prereq classes. i think u don't have to stress out too much for them. just make sure u get acceptable grades. don't have to strive for A's anymore. well...thats what i am doing atleast.
 
Hey guys! Thank you VERY much! We will be classmates because I'm attending Nova for sure. It is my top choice. I don't have the materials with me right now, but my family read them to me and I'll be going to the Ft Lauderdale campus which is my dream. I called them today and luckily got to talk to someone who told me I needed C- in all my classes this semester, but if they were non pre-reqs I could drop them. So I'm dropping A&P2 because I don't wanna stress myself too much, and we'll have to take Integrated A&P 1 and 2 in nova anyways so ... thanks a lot again and I'll see you guys/girls next fall ... (P.S. I'm still amazed I got in, and even more amazed I received an answer so fast)
 
How did you guys who got accepted feel after the interview?? where you guys confident... I had interview and it was kinda hard on me i felt preasurized they asked me hard question... So i m very sad but i would really appreciate if you guys can give me more info on how u r interview went and how did u guys feel. 🙁🙁

Don't think too much about it, I still have nightmares from my interview with nova back in october! Just remind yourself that you did your best and that you showed them who you are in person and not just on paper. They def were tough with me too, I was soo intimidated by them I nearly lost all sense of tact and clarity. As long as you were sincere about your reasons for becoming a pharmacist, you should be fine. Good luck and keep on truckin'.

Hey! I'm from Miami actually. I haven't started to look at prices yet, but they're not cheap. You can try apts guide, craigslist and things like that to get an idea. The school is finishing a grad residence hall, but I much rather get my own apartment with a roommate.
 
Lokote, so your interview was on Feb. 12th and you received your acceptance letter on Feb. 28th? 16 days turnaround!?!? That has to be a world record for response time by Nova. I interviewed at the end of January and still have not heard anything. I was told the committee met at the end of each month to deliberate and then letters were sent out. Also, I was told it would take 4-8 weeks from the time of interview to receive a response. How did you get so lucky?

I know!!! To be honest, I was expecting any news around april ... I even got some letters regarding a PIN and financial aid, and thought I was denied, but yeah, 16 days is amazing for any school, but Guinness record for nova. I have no idea how I got so luck, my stats, pcat and work experience are average. I just really thank god and all the people who helped me, but yeah, I still can't believe it ... let me go check the name and the address in the letter once again, just to make sure :laugh:

I wasn't home when they apparently delivered something from NOVA. They left one of those pink slips that says NOVA on it. I can't go to the post office until Monday to pick it up.

Should I assume that it is an acceptance package from NOVA????

Because I have heard that when they reject you the mail envelope is pretty thin in size and when you get accpeted it is sort of thick. Is that true???

I had my interview on Feb 6th.

Wow. I am Jonathan, the guy who was nervous about the outcome of the interview. You dropped me off at the hotel. You gave me your e-mail address, but since it was written with a black marker, it got erased and I could not figure out what it was. All i remembered was the three "a's" in your email.
