Hey everyone. I was accepted to NSU and I have an interview scheduled for TOURO-NY for next week. However, I'm having a hard time getting myself excited over the upcoming interview because I'm not really interested in the school (mostly because I'm probably going to end up going allopathic). It's not that I have anything against TOURO, I've just never heard anyone rave about the school.

If you had to choose between the two, which would you pick based on education, rotation availability, etc. I'd be happy with either location, Manhattan or the beach.

Any yeah, I tried searching but never found any posts directly comparing the two.

Both of them are great schools. Touro is really new so it doesn't have that reputation yet, but it is definitely on an upward rise, they hired a new curriculum coordinator a couple years ago and its his goal to make Touro NY have the highest board passing rates. I went on an interview at Touro on Oct 5th, and I was impressed with the faculty, facilities and students.

Either way, both are very good. Med school is going to be tough and stressful, go to the school where you'll feel happy for the next two to four years.

Im confused. If you're probably going to go allopathic then why do you care about either nsu or touro. Unless the telepathic school is someplace your rather not live.

Both are good schools. Nsu has more history, and damn good history at that. tourony is kicking ass out in ny and has the upside of having plenty of nyc hospitals very familiar with the school on elective. But if you're not feeling it, then don't worry about going there at all.

Then don't go...?

If you're not in the least excited about it, why even bother?

For the record, Touro-NY is not in Manhattan. Brooklyn is not Manhattan. If you're not excited, don't go. Why would you want to waste the money?

Actually, for the record Touro-NY IS in the borough of Manhattan. Harlem may not be as glamorous as the other neighborhoods/sections of Manhattan but don't disregard it completely.

To be honest, personally I would choose NSU over Touro-NY just because it's more established. I understand NYC has a lot of opportunities, but the rotation sites and hospitals in Florida are fantastic too.

Haha, sorry to disappoint.

But location is a very important factor when choosing med school, if you think NYC fits you better, then go for it. All med schools will give you the education you need.

I think if it is something that you are going to wonder about then you should just go to the interview. You wont know what you think of Touro until you see it; it seems that some people who interviewed instantly liked the campus, while I instantly knew it was not the place for me. In the end it might be worth a few hundred dollars and a day or two of your time to make sure of your decision.

I'm just going to reiterate this from another thread. The good looking girls go to St. Matthews and Ross.

Boo!

Not to the comment. But to being on topic.this thread was so nicely derailed.

It was so nicely derailed I forgot I made the thread. Anyway, I decided to go on the interview just to check out the school and get some more interviewing practice. Who knows, I may fall in love with it.
