Does anyone else have an interview at NSU this Friday? or can anyone who interviewed last week give any pointers? I checked out the interview feedback but one has posted yet this interview season.

First off, congrats on getting your interview. More likely you will hear the phrase "You wouldn't be here if we weren't interested in you" at the interview by some administrator. The only advice I can give you on your interviews is for you to be yourself and stand firm in your responses to the interveiwers questions. Read your application over again and find any blemishes or strong points that you can reason out or shine in front of them. Also, ask any of the other students questions regarding their experience during interviews. Finally, don't panic...just enjoy your time and good luck.

Thanks drdoogie4🙂 I will take your advice!

Good luck on your interview. If I still lived down in Davie, I'd give you a pep talk before your interview...

Q, DO

Hey Polo,

Hope your interview went well. We have some characters as our reps and they are great....Tell me all about it!!! 🙂

Hey drdoogie4,
I think the interview went really well. The DOs at my interview were really nice, not a stressful interview at all. On the tour the students told us about the histo lab teacher...lol, she sounds like a lot of fun. The dean, I am not even going to try to spell his name, was great. We all chatted with him for about half an hour or so at the end of the day and I was really impressed with him. Overall I was very impressed with the school, but even more so with you guys. All the students there seemed happy and our tour guides were so welcoming. I know they really tried to give us a good impression and they are probably told to sell us on the school but I feel they were being really sincere.🙂 I think I could really fit in at NSU so hopefully I will get an acceptance letter.

Speaking of NSU, I wish I was told to call it NSU as opposed to just NOVA. I heard that that was important, only I heard it literally right after my interview (I was the first to go in)😱 Hopefully they didn't out right throw out my application after that..lol.

Hey Polo,

You are dead on with Dr. Dribin, one of our histology profs. This lady is amazing. She knows everyone's (all 200) names by the first two weeks. If you come late to her class, watch out...she will call you out in the middle of the class. Her lectures are one of the best. You can't go wrong with her. As for the students, we are all mainly happy. I am very happy that I chose NSUCOM (I got the lecture about calling it NOVA many times!!). This is a school where most of us are all happy to be here and succeed. There are many outlets that you can get away from the school. For example, some students have taken trips to Key West, Naples, Tampa Bay, and other places for a breather.

As for your interviewers, who were they?

Hi Drdoogie4,
I don't have then names right in front of me so I will try to spell what I remember. Dr. Stasio, Dr Anderson-Wort, Dr Warhitlig (that one is totally spelled wrong..lol) and Dr Wilkinson. They all seemed pretty nice. I heard some students went out on a party bus on thursday or something and they missed biochem..lol. How strict are they with the attendance policy?
NSU seems like a good choice for me but it is my first interview.😛

drdoogie4,
One more quick question. Do the interviewers have a mailbox and if not would I just mail them something to HPD? I checked online but all I saw was their e-mail address.

I never mailed the interviewers at NSUCOM a thank you note but I did email them.

In regards to the party bus, the students like to have fun. The Class of 2007 study hard as we party. Furthermore, we leave no one behind. All of us are willing to help each other succeed. There is no competition amongst us only in us. The only person I compete with is myself. This one reason I chose this school over other schools I got accepted to. Moreover, the friends I have made at the school will remain a lifetime. I have never met a group of people that astonish me day in and day out with their friendship and humbleness. I do hope that you get your acceptance and join the NSUCOM family.

polo - i can attest personally that the party bus was an awesome time... 😀 however, i live right across the street from school, so i dragged myself to school at 8 for biochem (even though we got home at 4am). everyone at NSUCOm is great, and we all know how to have a great time.... i NEVER thought med school would be like this. 😀 😀

glad to hear your interview went well... hope to see you next year.

(dr.doogie - you should have been there thurs! we missed you~)

Hey Jenn,
Sounds like you guys had a good time 😛 Do you live within walking distance to campus? I bet that makes life a lot easier!

polo - it takes me less than 5 minutes to walk to school... my apt complex is honestly right across the street from Nova's HPD, so it's nice because i barely ever drive and i can wake up a few minutes later in the morning.... plus it's easier to go home, work out, eat dinner, and then go back to the library to study. there are tons of nice places to live around the campus, but only 2 are really in walking distance. and the party bus was a great time... if you get in and decide to come here, it's just one more thing for you to look forward to. 😀

take care and let us know how things turn out...

Hi Jenn,
It sounds like you found a great place to live! I actually live in a neighborhing town but I would def move closer to the school. I think i am only 4 miles from the school (maybe even as little as 2) but closer is better, at least to me.

I will post as soon as I hear anything😉
