As interviews are wrapping up, I'm starting to get concerned that I don't have enough interviews. I went on 11 interviews (with 2 not going very well). Info on other people's experiences might be helpful as I'm at a school where there aren't any other derm applicants.

11 is a phenomenal number

I think it's completely normal to feel this way no matter how many interviews you ultimately had. (I had fewer than you and was stressing out the whole time)

This advice was of little use to me when I was applying but in hindsight, it was definitely good advice: you only need one place for a successful match and at the end of the day, you'll end up where you belong

Best of luck to you in the match :luck:

Everybody is sweating at this time of year... Everybody. 11 is a terrific number, and it really is, to some extent, all about numbers. You'll be alright. The heavy lifting is over. Make the most of the remainder of your year. Internship really sucks. 🙂

Ok, so 11 is phenomenal. But just curious...at what number would you start to feel comfortable about your chances of matching, assuming good interviews? (I know nothing is guaranteed in derm, but would like to hear residents' opinions.)

I'm convinced that if you know the right people: 1

If you don't know the right people?: Who knows?

I'd say probably 10. My logic is surely flawed, but it seems about 10 people are interviewed per spot available. If you interview at 10 places, you would ideally be the '1 in 10' at one of those spots.

*shrug* This is why I'm in Derm and not quantum algebreic geometric physics.
