I'm wondering, what is the greatest number of interview offers you have ever heard of someone receiving?

Are you starting this thread to hurt me? What did I do to derserve this?

I'm just pulling your leg. I know that MESOCOMPOUND got 17 interviews.

this one girl had 15 interviews, but no acceptances. ouch.

dang. 15 interviews? and reapplying? that is messed up. On the other hand, did she need help with her interview skills? I know people that are SO brilliant on paper but in person are so incredibly dysfunctional.

EE Gad! Perhaps I shouldnt have divulged that information!

I do, but let me clarify:

I'm a TX resident, so - as other TX residents know - I made the rounds at all the state schools (TX has a TON!).

Also, my stats are not utterly sick and killer; they're simply above average. I did spend tons of time on my personal statement, and - being a nontrad - Ive done some cool stuff, which I suppose ADCOMs like.

Anyway, best of luck! 😉

I hope he applied to some long shots -- sounds like he was solidly competitive with all the ones he chose (and may have sold himself short -- I mean, especially with stellar stats, you don't usually need to apply to so many schools in the first place).

Yes, he applied to a wide variety of schools and is receiving intervies from "long shots." He's got interviews at Stanford, Columbia, Cornell, UCLA, USC, UCSD, U Penn, and many more. I am so proud of him.

That's great -- but again, if he's getting all of those, he really had no "long shots" -- he perhaps underestimated his chances. Unless, as efex suggested, he hopes to play their financial aid packages against each other, he could have saved some $ and applied to a lot less schools. Congrats.

Are you applying too or are you just online advocating for him?

For the sake of advocating for someone else...Lynn42 has 12 interviews herself. Therefore she has no need to boast for others.

Who used the word "boast"? More importantly, are Lynn and her boyfriend trying to go to the same medical school? I wonder what kind of weight a couple like them has with the admissions judges.

Really???????????????? Wow, I never took the time to count how many when some of these posters were adding where they got interviews at.

However, the biggest number I counted in anyone's MDapps profile was 13. I guess this 17 interviews breaks the official record.

Wow I wish I saw this post, before I just posted what I did above this.

That makes more sense, if the Tx. schools sans baylor are counted in those 17, since those work in a totally different way through a different app process, and work by use of a match system, hence making it impossible to get accepted by more then one place.

Either way, that's awesome that you are doing so well, especially as a nontrad. I have a great admiration for nontrads, especially those who have had another full time career and set everything aside to come back to school and go through this process. :luck: :luck:

:luck: :luck: to everyone on SDN.

Lynn,

20 interviews!!!!!!!! WOW OH WOW!!!!!!!! That's real awesome for your boyfriend. Hopefully both of you will get many good acceptances. 🙂

Yes anything over 25 *is* a lot but it pays off....also you do not have to go to ALL interviews that you are invited to....but the more you go to the better the chances to land some great financial aid OR merit scholarships. It is not unheard of to apply to over 30 schools and I did just that..it paid off really well. This is not to say that you should apply to that many but if you can afford it and are willing to travel it is not that difficult. The secondaries are time consuming but most can be recycled and I applied to 32 on AMCAS and sent in 32 secondaries received many (more than I would have thought) interviews went on 11 all this before Oct 15th and was accepted by 9 with 2 W/L which I withdrew from on Oct 15th...I promptly contacted all the other schools to cancel the interviews... I ended up with some very nice scholarships. Again, this is not to say that you have to apply to more than 15.

I think a lot of people who apply to 25 schools or more are generally people who either come from a super competitive state like California where it is tough to stay in your own state, states which lack a medical school or more then one medical school, or people who have slightly lower averages like a friend of mine who applied to 25 and had 2 interviews and 1 acceptance and 1 waitlist.

At least, that is what I've observed at my uni and through SDN. I could be wrong though.

I couldn't imagine spending money on 40 schools. I think 25 would be my max limit.

I agree with what most people say here: You have to keep going to interviews until you are accepted somewhere. I have no acceptances - and Texas's stupid match doesn't occur until February - so turning down interviews would be simply arrogence on my part. I think I'm also too old now (well not that old) to be concerned about something as silly as a medical school name. I want to be a doctor, plain and simple - if I go to Harvard, great; if I go to a state school in Texas, that would be great too. Both school's will grant me an MD to achieve the ever elusive dream of becoming a doctor 😀

Well for me that was not the case for applying (lower stats or super competitive state like Cali)..I was *looking* for scholarships *and* being non-trad wanted to apply broadly. It *was* expensive but nothing compared what I would have had to fork out if I had to actually pay for medical school....so the initial investment did pay off for me.

I am applying to medical school as well and living a life of anticipation as each day passes!! I call my family at 4:00 every day to make them check the mail while I am at work. I also check my email about 20 times a day. Too funny. I hate this waiting game. Oh ya- sadly enough, my boyfriend and I don't have interviews at the same schools with the exception of 1 school. 🙁
