How many interviews should one have in hand to feel comfortable? Is there a relation between the number of interviews one has to the acceptance rate?

i am hoping for 5 before i start breathing.

Some have gotten 7 and only been accepted into 1, or 0. So I would say you're only safe when you recieved an acceptance because the process is really a crapshoot.

i have seven interviews so far and my parents think i should start being picky about which ones i want to go to because of the money situation...but i can't bring myself to decline any interviews because i still don't feel comfortable. i probably won't feel comfortable until i have that first acceptance in my hand.

I have gotten 9 and decined 1 so far. I have not even heard from my top schools yet, so I am a little stressed with money and missing class....I think I am going to turn down two more depending on whether or not I hear from other choices. I am with Erina though...I feel really uncomfortable turning any down. I just want an acceptance first...

i've only seen one school and i know that i liked it. but, as for the other schools, i don't know how to rank my top choices having never been to them. thats why i don't think i'll be turning down any interviews

Thanks guys...I am still waiting on uMich (my hometown), Emory, and USC to come through for me. The others I dont really care about so much. But if I hear from them, there is no doubt I'd interview there....ugh....I am so broke!

I'm treating each one like my only one until and unless I get accepted somewhere.

I have 8 interviews and a phone screen w/Mayo. Out of those I've declined 1 interview.

Same situation for me. i think if I get anymore interviews at schools I am not super excited about, I might try to schedule them for after Oct 16, hopefully I will know something at that point, and if I get an acceptance I might cancel some.

I'm from Ann Arbor too! Strangely, I got my Umich interview early this month, but still waiting to hear from MSU and Wayne State....Congrats on all the interviews thus far!🙂

Ouch. Sorry dude. See this is why we shouldn't be declining interviews. Did they give you any specific suggestions on how/what to improve for next cycle?

Don't feel comfortable until you get in. You can get in on one, or you can get rejected after ten.
That being said, folks who get one interview have to really make it count, while those who get lots of interviews can afford a bad day.
