Number of questions in MCAT

Sorry if this sounds dumb, but I just read from EK's book that MCAT Verbal section has 40 questions for 60 minutes instead of 60 questions for 85 minutes as it used to. When this change happen? Was this something that came about with CBT?

And same go for PS and BS [77 Q/100 Min to 52 Q/70 Min]. I couldn't really find it on Google, so thank you for anyone who can shine a light to this 🙂 Also, are the official AAMC MCATs have the new number of questions or the old number of questions (the ones you buy; the free MCAT test 3 seems to have old number of questions..).

The MCAT was shortened around 33% when the CBT form came about....I think you can buy the old paper and new CBTs...

What do you mean by saying that I can buy the old paper and new CBTs? Like, which tests are the new CBT-format?

In other words, when I logged onto see the test 3, I could take it online or print it. But, when I saw the pdf, it had the old format. So, then does that mean say, for tests 4, 5, etc..., are they in the new CBT format (so 33% less long)? Sorry if this sounds a bit confusing.

For test 3-6 (I think) you can get them in CBT format on the computer (less questions in the new format) or in pdf format with the old number of questions. 7-10 (might be 8-10) only comes in the new format with less questions.
