Hi all,
I'll be applying to PT school this upcoming cycle, and I was curious what your opinions are on the number of schools everyone has applied to. I've scrolled through the Acceptances thread and noticed a lot of people regret applying to too many schools.
I was curious what is meant or considered to be "too many"?

It depends somewhat on your stats and location but I personally say 6-8 is max. Those should all be carefully chosen and it allows you to really focus on what the schools want from you. Less is ok too! (I was a weaker applicant and applied to 4 very targeted schools).

Thanks for your advice! I will definitely consider it!

I'd say... have at least 4 schools that you feel that you can definitely get into. Another 4 schools that you feel that you can be competitive in and the last 2 should be your "shoot for the stars" schools. I'd say 10 schools should be sufficient enough to give you options if anything. Anything more than that is excessive. However, depending on your GPAs and GRE scores you may have to apply to more. In my case, my GPA was really low and I applied to about 15 schools. Got into 1 school, waitlisted at 4 and the rest rejections. Everyone's circumstances are different and it's up to you to know what schools you have a better chance with than others.

Thank you so much! That's great advice. I'll definitely take your advice!
