Number of secondaries / interviews / acceptances/ rejections

This thread is for statistical purposes only and wil not take into account any factors such as gpa, mcats, ECs, state, or anything.

It is just to see how many schools we applied to (that is sent in secondaries to) and how many interviews and acceptances we have so far ( and rejections, pre or post interview dont matter here). Although it's still early in the game, it will be interesting to see if number of applications has anything to do with the outcome. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

So please use this format:

This will be a LIST in NUMBERICAL ORDER!!!!
you can add extra info like withdrawals, etc at the beginning of the post, but let's keep the list in numbers

and update when info changes

tell us your info at the beginning of the post, then list while putting your info in numerical order

Please add your info to the list by copying the previous post (hit control A then C) and then pasting it to a reply (control V). Then add in your info. OR, just hit the quotaion marks from the PREVIOUS post and erase the old message, add your info, and erase the [Q] symbol from the beginning and end.

I thought I applied to 18. Looking at my AMCAS, however, I realize that I only applied to 16.

My 1st interview produced an acceptance; so I dropped 7 of the 16 schools, two of which requested an interview.

I initially applied to 21 schools. So, Mr. Furious, you can see that my primary fee for 5 schools was wasted & my primary and secondary fees for 7 schools were wasted. Of course this is all in hindsight.

EVERYONE, make sure your # of applications is the # of secondaries you completed, and not your initial list to AMCAS, if you didn't complete all the secondaries. You can recopy the list, and make changes if necessary. Also, I think # of interviews suffices, whether you went to them or not. The point of the thread is to try to correlate # of apps with success at getting interviews and acceptances.

Baylor, your entry proves the point I was making above. It's not necessary to apply to 40+ schools, but applying to 15-30 schools (I said 15-25, and I'm sure at this point you'd agree that 25 would have been a sufficient number for you) does increase one's odds (I'm sure your stellar application had lots to do with your results as well!)

DesiMD, watch your tongue. Have you even read this entire thread to find out what its purpose is? We were talking about people applying to 40-50+ schools and whether that was necessary!! Baylor21 is one of the true gentlemen of SDN, has been around since the beginning of the AMCAS debacle, and has stated before he would not have applied to so many schools had he known how successful he was going to be. He's hardly posted at all about his truly phenomenal results! But his numbers are truly relevant to the point of this thread, so he helpfully provided them.
