What's your opinion on getting a LOR from a nurse that I worked with in hospice, as a volunteer.
Trying to get my letters lined up for next cycle. 🙄

Was this nurse your supervisor? If so, I think it's probably fine. If they're someone who you just worked alongside as a volunteer, then I would say look for someone else. Personally, I don't think it should matter that they're a nurse. You just don't want it to seem like you got a friend/coworker to write you a letter instead of someone more impartial like a supervisor, volunteer coordinator, or boss.

I agree with thatwouldbeanarchy.

I will say that I submitted a LOR from a nurse and it seemed to go over pretty well (at least it wasn't bad enough to keep me from getting accepted). Her being a nurse was not necessarily important in my situation though. She was a supervisor for me in a nonclinical volunteer setting, and just happened to also be a nurse, so she did not speak about any kind of clinical experience I had. If you are wanting him or her to write more of a clinical LOR rather than a volunteer LOR I could see some people not liking it as much as they would if it came from a supervising physician.

Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is I think it is really dependent on your situation and what role this nurse played in your experience.
