That I'm not correct for my initial post here? That's funny?

If the world could only have one, doctors.

It's more likely that a doctor could do a nurse's job than vice versa.

If we could have any one it would be PhDs since they are developing the cures. Doctors just doll it out.

If we could have one, it would be the businessmen since they are the ones providing funding for the labs.

If could have................

I will say OP has made an ass of himself, but his initial post deserves some merit. Also, how much of a winner are you fighting with a PREMED on an online forum...? Get over yourself man.

Not certain I understand this

Okay, apparently I have been going a little overboard and should go back to my normal SDN persona.

In the chance that you aren't an alt of sacholiver (can't really blame people for being suspicious given that you just registered, to apparently jump in this thread). I will attempt to explain.

I spend a fair amount of time on this forum. I spend a fair amount of time doing in person pre-med advising and spend my free time (when not being a surgical resident 80+ hours/week) thinking about the admissions process and generally trying to be helpful here. None of my posts after my first one in this thread were supposed to be taken seriously. I am not fighting with a pre-med in this thread and certainly am not going around spamming, "I AM A WINNER".

I thought that this was obvious given the OP's spam posting, and my attempt at speaking like Donald Trump. I should have maybe included a disclaimer in size 1 font at the bottom of the post. I apologize that I didn't make the joke clearer. Most people obviously got it, but given the propensity for there to be people on here for the first time, I should have still hedged. Mea culpa.

I admit that I am not immune to the temptation to sometimes start trolling the obvious trolls back. Guilty pleasures and all. I keep saying this on SDN, doctors are human too...

I am not sacholiver. I did just register, but this thread was at the top of the pre-allo list.

Jokes which are a result of sarcasm do not transmit well over text.

Gratzee on being a surgical resident. I am too. So wow. So sexy. So win

Edit: Although this account is new to SDN, I had a previous account years ago that I can't remember the login info to (PS go Panthers!!!)

Er.... @mimelim i think you're getting a bit worked up

🙁 I swear, I am sitting at my desk with my feet up, watching basketball, surfing the internet and replying to SDN. I don't think I'm worked up XD. I guess I've been too serious on SDN for too long, if I start having a little bit of fun I sound like I'm getting worked up.

Don't you have that jailbroken da Vinci machine to play with? 😛

This is the best gif on the Internet.
mathematically it doesn't make sense (assuming the center is true zero)

Although I was a double major in biophysics and applied calculus a long time ago... I'm likely over thinking it.

I think space in terms of Star Trek, so teh maths don't really matter, only gravimetric anomalies and temporal wakes.

Believe it or not my undergrad had a class in fictional mathematics and I hear Star Trek was a big unit.

Not URM (I earned my way to medical school)
True. I'm a URM and a sophomore undergrad. I haven't even taken my MCAT yet, but Harvard Med is already begging me to join their Class of 2022. All I had to do was show them that I'm black.

Well you do have a better chance with a lower score than a white person... Affirmative action is so nice.

Ok let's address this for all you butt hurt white folks out here. Affirmative action mainly benefits white women. I'll say this again. Affirmative Action mainly benefits WHITE women. Let's say an average incoming class is 148. Only about 14 of them are black. So whites are STILL the vast majority. So no, black people are not taking your spots. In a society where whites are generally at an overall advantage with more opportunity than oher races, don't blame your short comings and **** ups on the SMALL percentage of black people that are actually admitted. In any case, affirmative action benefits white people most. If AA was erased, most colleges and med schools would be majority Asian, more specifically the higher tier ones. That means Indian as well.
So again, stop blaming your inadequacies on us. If your stats were really all that great, you'd get into at least one med school. End rant.

true but I'd rather focus on solving the puzzle than do technician work for most of the day. Sorry but nurses are important but they do different jobs. The fact that this line is being blurred by their current propaganda is primarily due to hospital management, insurance companies, nursing lobby, and of course physicians' negligence to the issue.

This literally made no sense haha. Honestly you sound like an entitled crybaby. AAMC publishes data that proves that blacks enter medical school with much lower scores. By the time your applying to medical school, you have at the minimum gone through 4 years of college, at which point you can grow up and stop complaining about your perceived disadvantage. Claiming people are inadequate...? Your logic is very flawed, I hope you never enter medical school due to your racist and childish attitude.

Let's not let facts get in the way of entitlement

I know that we do. But Affirmative Action does not harm white people at all, it actually HELPS you guys more than it helps us. White women enter with lower stats too. White women benefit more from AA like I said, and not just in medicine; in every job imaginable. Within the years following AA, involvement with white women in managerial positions, etc increased greatly. Like exponentially. Way more than for actual minorities.

And yes, so many white people cite AA as the reason they didn't get into a school, when it was their own inadequacies. Look at that dumb girl who didn't get into that school in Texas, even though her stats weren't up to par

Also, how am I racist? Because I call people out on their ****? Racism is a system of power, by which someone has the authority to hinder your success. Last time I checked, white people had all the power in the US. Which is why instituonalized racism is so prevalent. Blacks get shown 15% fewer houses than whites, have to pay $750 more for automobiles, and studies have been shown that resumes with more black sounding names were passed over in favor of more white sounding names, despite the resumes being identical.

Also, it's important to DIVERSIFY the Healthcare field. African Americans receive worse health care than whites. We are less likely to be told of developing problems which are completely treatable. We are given less treatment options. The Infant Mortality Rate of graduate degree holding African American Women is 11.2/1000 births, while for uneducated white women it's 9/1000. There's clearly a huge disparity. So if someone tries to make a meek attempt to rectify the problem, stop being upset by your own inadequacies and realize that things don't always go your way.

Btw, even though statistically our stats tend to be lower, the overall rates of white attendees is still significantly higher. It literally does not affect you. But I guess that's not enough for you as a whole to succeed. You have to continue to try to bring us down. If you're picking a fight, go argue with white women since they benefit the most.

Well I got into medical school, (more than 1 and one of them being a top 20) so I'm not really worried about being "inadequate." I would say that your just biased and ignore facts but I'm pretty sure nobody can actually be that stupid. Good try race-mongerer/troll

You got into med school, yet you don't know the difference between you're and your? They must have let you in because you're a white woman. Goodnight.

Well, I typed this on a phone so that was probably just autocorrect lol. I see you're clearly jealous of white women because you're arguments make no sense. It must suck to carry as much hate as you do

save it, huffpost is crap

I could care less about arguing about race on an internet forum. I'm not against affirmative action.

I had a decently heated discussion about whether doctors or nurses are more important in the overall goal of treating patients. Apparently, nurses are a more
important part of the healthcare team. I argued nurses are very important, but without doctors, you're dead.

Thoughts?

You realize you shouldn't engage in these kinds of arguments. They neither make the profession or you look good.

Not URM (I earned my way to medical school)

While part of your statement is a bit abrasive and lacks PC, I agree with it. I wish admissions was more equal across the board.
