What is a waiting list exactly and how does it work? Is it a guaranteed acceptance but you just have to wait? My brother is concerned that he'll apply and he just keeps waiting and then gets a rejection.

If someone can clarify this for me, I'll appreciate it.

Your brother shouldn't be needing you to find out this kind of stuff on the internet. Waitinglists may mean different things for different schools.

What it probably means is that a certain number of accepted applicants would need to decline their acceptance in order for those on the waitlist to be offered acceptance. How the details work is up for your brother to contact the school and find out.

Your brother needs a smack upside his head.

Smack yourself........ :diebanana:

i was curious to know as well and i am sure many others here are wanting to all know if they are new to situations like this.

How exactly is anyone going to know how a certain unknown school manages its waiting list, hmmmm?

The best way to get an accurate answer is to actually call or email that school.

Gee, is that so hard?

Of course, if you prefer the roundabout, possibly inaccurate method of gathering random responses from random people on the internets, be my guest.

The waiting list at the nursing school that I went to had a waiting list every year. If someone decided not to do nursing, another spot opened up. The wait list was based off of things such as GPA/ACT/residency. Pretty much, if you didn't have a 3.9/4.0 you were screwed since there were so many applicants. Other schools have a continual waiting list that spreads out through years. Pretty much they accept everyone that has met the pre-requisites, but they might have to wait two years to get off the list.

Are you thinking about nursing, Torshi? Just shy? 😛
