Nursing vs DO

I will soon apply to med school, and prefer to become an MD. However, MD programs as you all know are very tough to get into 🙁.

In the case I dont get in, should I become a DO or a nurse? How did you guys decide to become DOs as opposed to nursing? Please post thoughts.

You are misinformed a DO = MD = doctor. You have a lot of reading to do... but something tells me you know this already.

Why would you say MD=DO? So there is no reason why one is so much harder to get in than the other? Not ranting, but let's be reasonable.

DO=osteopath (googled it)

After further reading I conclude that I was wrong... DOs are more like physical therapists than anything else as they get training in musculo skeletal system

You are either a troll or very misguided. One thing is for sure, you are very wrong. Just look at the FAQ's above. There is no difference in practice between MD's and DO's. In the US, both are considered complete physicians, licensed to practice the full scope of medicine. DO's are not more like physical therapists; they are physicians and can specialize in all the same things as MD's. DO's do receive additional training in OMM, which does involve the neuromusculoskeletal system, but the curriculum, otherwise is the same as MD's. No more needs to be said, or defended. It is obvious.

Its fine though, i dont want to start a war. There is nothing wrong with physical therapy and osteopathy being similar..

You're right, DOs are nurses. Thats why my first DO lecture was Sheet Changing 101.
