Hi,
I just received invitation for nyu and columbia, and I am so afraid of going travel to ny, because i've never out of my state, is there anything i have to beware of? and do anyone know where i should stay in ny?? any good suggestion about hotel/hostel? What happened if they ask me why nyu? why columbia? I did not even know the school well....I feel stupid, but anyone could help me? I really appreciate it.

I got interview from Columbia, but nothing from NYU yet. To save money, I want to make a single trip to NY and do the both interview.

try this hostel. I don't know how good it is, but i'm planning to stay here.
I think it's very cheap and very close to Columbia.

May I ask when your esubmit date is?
Do NYU email you? or mail you?

I am waiting a response from NYU.

NYU will email you. Just be careful when setting up travel and accomodations, as both schools are in Manhatten and the airports are in Queens.

I setted the date for 9/28 for columbia interview...because they only offer for fridays....let mw know when urs will be...^^ maybe we could stay at the same hostel

You can stay at American Youth Hostel. It's very fun there, they used to charge me $30-35 for one night. I am not sure if they change the price now. And don't worry about the transportation, subway can take you everywhere you want to go in New York, very convenient.

Do you mean 9/26? It's the second Friday they start interviews. That's when I scheduled mine. I'm nervous about going to NY by myself! I have a HORRIBLE sense of direction! Maybe I'll see you there! Congrats on the interview!

Hey guys, sorry for cutting in on this thread with a different date, but I'm also flying to NY for my interview at Columbia (no word from NYU) and was looking for a place to stay as well. If anyone here is interviewing on Oct 3, it'd be great to see what your plans will be. Maybe we can meet up too!

I just got an interview for NYU by email earlier in the day. Is Columbia less than 1 mile away from NYU?

I think Columbia and NYU are a good ways apart...maybe 10 miles. Columbia's dental school is located on 168th st and NYUCD is on 24th st. But not too far if you take the subway.

I just visited both of the schools today and both of the schools were very nice. They are pretty far apart though.


Columbia campus was beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey goldborn, I also have my interview on Oct 3rd. I'm looking for a place to stay as well. Let me know what your plan is. I'm afraid if I'm going to be lost in NY. It will be better to stick together.

Im pretty sure that you can just take the B train right to Columbia. You can stay in Brooklyn or queens or the bronx and get a much cheaper hotel rate and it still is only like a 40 minute train ride from most places. NYU is downtown, right next to the brooklyn Bridge almost and you can stay in brooklyn for that, its like a 10-15 minute train ride depending on where you are staying.

I will stay in international new york hostel...u can check the hostel.com, there are a lot of options ^^
