Hi everyone
As rank deadline approaches, just wanted to see if I could get input on what you guys perceive as pro's and con's of NYC anesthesia residencies

What I gather so far:

(Sinai)
PRO: support from PD and admin, general atmosphere, strong regional
CON: trauma at elmhurst, ?weak pain rotation

(Columbia)
PRO: Cardiac, research, big name
CON: ?work hours, leadership accessibility to residents

(Cornell)
PRO: location, housing, newly structured academics curriculum, regional
CON: ?weakness in peds

(NYU)
PRO: Trauma, bellevue, variety of cases
CON: ?work load, perceived lack of structure of academic teaching

Thanks!!

Hello,

Our group hired two Columbia graduates, and we are amazed at the high quality of their training. In anything you can think of, knowledge, clinical skills, case presentations, lectures, ability to solve unexpected situations, confidence, etc., they are superb, outstanding, phenomenal.

Of course, I don't know whether all of them turn out like that or ours was just a coincidence.

you will receive excellent training at ANY of those institutions. just figure out where you want to live, how much money you want to make during residency, and what kind of OR physical surrounding do you want to have. of course, factor in the feeling you got from the place and the people.
