Currently a PGY1 in a categorical spot at an awesome program in the New England area. Looking into the possibility of pursuing any CA1 openings for next year in the NYC area. I would never even think about leaving the program I'm currently at, if I didn't have family reasons for relocation. I'm not sure how the details of this process work. Do residents usually try to find someone to swap with? Do they contact individual programs to inquire about open spots? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
