I am a third year, starting to do some research into residency program in New York. Any one have any suggestions to which to apply to? What is unique about that specific program or any other information that can be useful?

Thanx!

I would send a message to setdoc7, and ask him. He knows everything about all of the NY programs since he is directly involved. And he is very handsome 🙂

yes, he is an excellent director....

i would see if your school has material, see if they have a program that invities the residencies to present.

The Greater NY meeting has a residency fair... but it will be too late in your 4th year

check the ADA website for the programs you may be interested in learning about. I applied to 18 GPRs and interviewed at 12 before I chose one. There are phone numbers and emails on the websites. Most GP directors are happy to answer any and all your questions, and maybe invite you to visit. I did that in my 2nd and 3rd yrs of dental school and I did as many externships as possible. I learned a lot but doing that too...got to see the areas, learn about the commute times, the strength of the program, how many did GP and those the opted to specialize. It was great because after my volunteer time at the program, I asked an attending to write a letter of recommendation so I could add it to my portfolio... it also helped when I was looking for my first job.

For the love of god man...some of these posts are 7 years old, and you're answering like it's a lightning round.

As long as you aren't a periodontist your input is always valued, but try to stick to threads posted after the Berlin wall came down.
