Hi,
I'm a first year anxious to know if anyone can fill me in with up-to-date info on the happenings of NYC pysch residency trends (i.e. are new programs on the horizon? Any programs in bad shape? etc),
good hospitals to showcase at during fourth year,
what the general application culture is like in terms of being competitive at specific programs (Columbia, Sinai, NYU, St. Lukes, and beyond).
The reason I ask about how competitive programs are is that my cousin finished his residency in the city (EM) and said that psych is actually more competitive in NYC compared to the rest of the nation due to the "cash only" nature of some practices (maybe he meant Manhattan?).
Also, I'm a DO student with the understanding that there aren't a lot of DO psych programs, so any DO-specific info would be helpful too.
