hi everyone,

i posted this in the surgery forum, but didn't get any responses so i thought i would post here. does anyone have any general info on st. vincent's in manhattan and beth israel? (not just the surgery depts). how would you rate the training overall in these programs? and what about mt.sinai-cabrini? i know this is a lower-tier community program, but any other impressions would be greatly appreciated.

i'm finding it difficult to rank these programs b/c i don't think i have a good feel for their strengths/weaknesses.

thanks for your help!

Uneducated POV

I've found out the hard way that some programs in good locations tend to attract residents that are more interested in practicing in a good location than practicing good medicine.

I know that Beth Israel has a pretty good rep (but not fantastic).

2 cents, and well worth it!

Both Beth Israel and St Vincents are very comparable, have good reputations and fellowships in most subspecialties. They are significantly below the top university programs of Manhattan in terms of national prestige, research.Still they are well known hospitals and their grads do well.
