i'm planning to take ck at the end of the month in nyc. anyone familiar with the different testing centers and willing to offer their thoughts/tips? what's the difference between the ones at penn plaza vs. 675 third ave? also, i've heard that sometimes they don't let you bring food or drinks into the building -- what have you guys done for lunch/snacks?

many thanks for your help!!

Most people prefer penn plaza (either 15th or 17th floor) to the 3rd ave location as it is on a lower floor and tends to be noisier. I took step 1 at Penn plaza on the 17th floor, step 2 in queens, and step 3 at penn plaza on the 15th floor. The best location I have to say was queens. People were SOOO friendly. They have an area in the waiting room where you can eat. The problem is that it was out of the way for me and I had to travel an hour to get there. At Penn Plaza, they are very strict. Do not let you eat in the area. I had to eat lunch in the bathroom and saw other do the same. Also saw some people sitting in the hallway eating, though there is a sign that says you can't eat in the hallway either. I took a bite of my donut in the waiting room at Penn Plaza and got my head bitten off for it. When comparing the 15th floor to the 17th floor, the 15th floor is smaller, quieter, and was less of a wait time to sign in and out during breaks.

Hope this helps others in scheduling!

I took step III (yesterday and the day before) at the 17th floor penn plaza location and step II at the 15th floor penn plaza location. I found both sites to be excellent. Yesterday, the staff was very professional and well-organized; one person was particularly warm and calming, whereas another was a tiny bit more high strung but still nice. The one downside is that there isn't an area on the floor for eating (besides the bathroom). I went down to the lobby and then outside to eat or you could go to starbucks on the lobby floor. I didn't mind this at all since I didn't feel at all short on time. If I had felt short on time, I would have eaten in the bathroom or in the hallway even though you're not technically supposed to. I ate lunch in the hallway during my step II exam.
Overall it was a good experience.
