So here is what I have come up with. As we all know, NYCOM interviews Tue-Thursday. From what I understand, applicants who interviewed the week of Jan 3-5 and Jan 10-12 were already reviewed by the adcom and heard back.
Then, those interviewed the from Jan 17-19 and Jan 24-26 are still waiting anxiously. Is this fairly accurate? Anyone interviewed from Jan 17th on hear anything yet? According to this theory the next adcom meeting is around the 30th or 31st, meaning answers should arrive before valentine's day. Hey, NYCOM might be your valentine. What do you guys thing?
 
Haha wow that seems like it took some research. I interviewed on 1/19 afternoon, and of course I still haven't heard (not that I was expecting to this early). But yes! that would be an awfully nice valentine's day gift... i can see it now -

I interviewed 1/10 and I haven't heard back, u know if their sending out rejections and waitlist too or is it just acceptances?
 
One of threads stated that Taryn Croot said only rejections/acceptances go out now and Waitlists go out much later in the cycle.

i had my letter dated 1/19. called 1/27 and was told "we can only say we mailed something". Got my letter post dated 1/26. I don't think everything was sent out the same day and mail is slower in some areas.

Hmm, so what date did your letter arrive exactly? So lets see, if you were interviewed the first day of the second week for that two week period, the letter was dated nine days later. So say, someone was interviewed the 24th, which is also the first of the second week, their letter should be dated the 2nd, but wont be postmarked till the 10th. This is so pathetic, this crap isnt science, they meet when they can, so i dunno why i am wasting my time coming up with this rediculous algorithm as to how it all works. I am just going to call on the 10-day mark from my interview to see if my application is missing anything 😉 and hopefully they'll have some sort of news. What is this we mailled something but can't tell you what BS, thats such crap.
OHHHHH, I totally forgot to tell you guys, I heard that if you interview this early the acceptance is 80-10-10, where 80% accepted, 10% rejected, 10% waitlist, so that is promising. Opinions?
 
Well I just called and I interviewed in the second week of Jan and I was told to wait two more weeks b/c they haven't made a decision yet.. they must of finished off the first week interviews and some second week but didn't finish the whole pile

Where did you hear the 80-10-10?? Is that coming from one of us or someone from NYCOM admissions?

if anyone has taken princeton review, they have stats that you can check out on their site. they state that nycom interviews 20 percent of all applicants and only admits 2/3.. which is ~ 66%.

I just found out that I forgot to sign the check so thats causing a little inconvience...damn those checks!!
 
Did anyone else have a closed file interview at NYCOM? I did, and I'm wondering if it's a good or bad thing (or does it mean nothing at all)?

How was it closed file? If the interviewer had your file in front of him, but he had it closed.. it doesn't mean that he didn't read and study the information about you before he started asking questions.

I had a closed file. He asked me questions about myself for most of the time. In the end, he did open it only to see what my MCAT scores were. I had taken the Aug MCAT and my folder did not say, so he asked me. I received my acceptance letter 2 weeks later.

I'm not sure if you can judge whether it is a good thing. It's probably nothing. 😛

Well he had the file in front of him, and it was closed. He then seemed surprised when I told him where I went to school (??). Overall, the interview was very conversational and friendly, and I think it went well, but I'm anxiety-ridden. Too much coffee.

heehee you might be correct... i interviewed 1/17 and just called and the admissions lady said the adcom met yesterday and we should be hearing within the week or so....

Dolt! She told me that no decision has been made on my app... maybe the ppl from 1/19 are in the next pile to be seen. Anyone know when the adcom meets next?

weird... i would imagine that we're in the same pile... maybe she meant she didn't know about your specific app. status? like the decisions have to be confirmed by some person higher up (dean?) today or something? 😕

my convo was like this:

me: hi, i interviewed 2 weeks ago and i was wondering if there has been a decision made on my application yet? or when can i expect to hear from you?
her: no, the committee just met yesterday, so you should be hearing from them this week.
 
Wow, my theory was accurate. Dam I am good. So if they met yesterday, I would give it a week from today. Thats def going to kill me. I am so tired of this crap, i had enough. I was the kid who paid the extra 10 bucks to get my SAT scores two weeks sooner, lol.
So if they met yesterday, prob draft letters tomorrow, mail them, so like Monday we should hear, and if not, I would def called Tuesday. Oh boy, final strech for us January interviews.

Don't sweat it. I called 1/19 around 230pm and was told my file was not reviewed in the adcom yet and it would take about 1-2 weeks before they look at it. 10 days later I get an acceptance letter dated 1/19.

How is this a theory when other posters are telling us when the adcom is meeting? 🙄

Well my theory I would like to think is more thorough than the ppl who just throw out date 😀 but, lets see, if they met yesterday, we're in preety good shape. Anyone else call today?
 
I interviewed Dec 7th, and found out about 3 weeks after.

I'm in, deposits in, I'm ready to go.

Hey dr - what time did you intvw? I was afternoon, the last one to go. I was the guy who walked in late, in the middle of the financial aid presentation.
Apparently sometimes they say that no decision has been made yet when one has. Huntergatherer was told when he called that no decision had been made, but he received an acceptance letter for the same date that he called to ask.
 
Can someone else call from the 17 18 19 and 24 25 26 weeks. If they say, no decision yet, ask when should I expect one. You will probably get the generic NYCOM answer of around a month, lol. Let us know. I would call, but i've called mad times already - they're number one on my speed dial, lol.
 
Interviewed 1/26; called today. "Not processed yet." And no response with when next adcom meeting is.

i interviewed on 1/5 and received my acceptance on 1/27, 3 weeks to the date, so no worries yet.
and when i called after i got in, the secretary i talked wtih said she tells everyone who calls that it isn't processed yet, no matater what. she said she likes to wait for people to get letters
 
Probably a good policy. We're all anxious about this process. Hearing that one person phoned in and was told they are getting a letter and you are told you are not is no fun. Especially if you interviewed earlier. Trust me I was there. :meanie:

I also was interviewed on 1/26 and I just called and was told, "they're going through all the apps now and they're getting them done...you'll get your letter within 3-4 weeks from the date of your interview. I can't say whether you've gone through the committee yet or not"

Waiting sucks...I even checked my mail 453947209 times on sunday

trust me, you are one of the many. ask anyone on the network.. i drove everyone crazy waiting. I just have no patience. my friend had to remove me from the internet at work b/c i was obsessed!! I'm sure it is good news. good luck!!
 
Yea eanisis78, the nycom ppl from 17 18 19 and 24 25 26 have it worse now. Any one after the 26th shouldn't feel anxiety just yet as they only celebrated their one week anniversary this past Thursday. The rest us though, the 17'ers especially, are hitting their three week anniversary this Tuesday - so the tension is def building up. I am hoping that everyone through the 26'ers will here by Valentines day. Anyone else call today?
 
See, now the problem with SDN is that it makes my blood pressure go up. I swear, everytime I see "NYCOM" anything, my heart starts beating faster and I think - oooh, are they out yet? Did someone from this batch find out?!

I seriously need to remove myself from SDN
 
What you are suffering from is commonly known as SDN-itis. According to Merriam Webster, the suffix "-itis" is offenly used to mean inflammation, but its second definition is "Excessive preoccupation with, indulgence in, reliance on, or possession of." In order to treat SDN-itis it is recommended that you replace your SDN cravings with watching television and or exercising. Please note that you must consult your physician before attempting to treat SDN-itis on your own. If you are on any other medication, pregnant, or nursing, it is recommended that you do not begin SDN-itis treatment. This treatment plan is not suitable for those over the age of 65 or those who have been waiting for over two weeks after an interview and have yet to hear back.

Today is the three week mark for those of you who interviewed at NYCOM on the 17th. You guys should call today, see what's up. A lot of u were told that u'll find out within three weeks, so here you are, three weeks later, with no news. If there is any news, let us know. If they give you the usual: please give it a few more weeks, or the you haven't been processed yet, or the famous, I am sorry but your application is still being reviewed, just take a deep breath and hang in there.
 
I believe they said they were going to try to keep it down to 3-4 weeks if possible. they are not giving out any info so no point in calling anymore. It's best just to keep an eye out for when someone posts they recevied an acceptance letter, find out their interview date, and wait a few business days to get your letter. Yes it sucks if you don't get yours on that first day.

I know, patience is a virtue, but what can i say, how much long can i go with sleepless nights. Therefore, i called again today. I call once a week. I called last Tuesday, and now Today. That shouldn't be too bad. So here is my conversation.

Her: Nycom, how can I help you
Me: Hi, i interviewed a few weeks ago, and I just wanted to check on the status of m application
Her: If you haven't heard anythign, it probably has not been processed yet
Me: Yea, thats what i figured, its just the anxiety is killing me, and these sleepless nights, thanks god for tylenolpm
Her: hahaha, hold on, let me check, give me your last name
Her: yea, as your final status it just says Interviewed, so thats the most updated status we have for you
Me: Fair enough, thank you for checking, i am sure you get thousands of calls like this a day, i do truly appreciate it, any idea on how much longer?
Her: I wish I could tell you, but I hope you find out soon, good luck
Me: Thanks so much, have a good day.

Thats all i got for now, the same usual bs. Anyone else have better news? We can't let this post die....
 
No no, this thread won't die. I'm getting pretty good at air guitar. PM me if you know any good air drummers, my last guy said air banding wasn't for him. Go figure.

Soooo if it comes in the next few days, my parents are going to be the ones opening the envelope. B/c, ironically, I'm going to NY for the weekend... it'll be interested, I always envisioned myself being there, seeing, feeling, and opening to envelope - but if it comes anytime this week, i'll be hearing from the rents.

Good luck guys. Try to post as soon as you get a letter so those of you that get mail earlier than us can let us know to keep a look out 😀
 
Just checking up on the NYCOM news. Anyone hear anything about acceptances. I interviewed on the 25 of Jan, went well, but haven't heard anything yet. any body interview around that time hear anything?

are you guys kidding? lighten up... 2 outta 3 aint bad... RELAX!!! and even if you don't get "accepted" right off the bat..... people on the waiting list for NYCOM are tradionally VERY likely to get a spot... so many people use this school as a backup its not even funny... lighten up guys... and we will hear very soon either way... the wait is almost over

Someone that I interviewed with said they barely touched their waitlist last year. What's the consensus on this: do they usually use their waitlist or don't they?? I hope everyone has a good weekend but we all know we will be thinking of NYCOM. I am pulling for everyone. Good luck to all!!

My friend goes to NYCOM and was accepted from their waiting list in May.... He told me that NYCOM accepts alot from their waiting list b\c they need to fill the class b\c everyone takes it as a backup... thats all I know.... anyway I hope to be hearing next
 
Sure a number of people use NYCOM as backup but definitely not everyone as you put it. In the past NYCOM has interviewed as late as May and NYCOM has overaccepted people in the past so I don't think getting accepted from the waitlist is as easy as you make it out to be.
