Going to be attending NYCOM this fall. I am interested in cardiology -- anybody know of any studetns going that path or who went that path. What exposure do we have to cards during are 3rd and 4th year rotations. Thanks for the help.

Plenty of NYCOMers head into cardiology. It's a bit hard to track though b/c of the fact that you dont apply for cardiology right out of med school... you do a cards fellowship after 3 years of internal medicine. That said, the match list for IM this past year was pretty impressive, with a ton of people going into IM. The best way to get a cards fellowship is to do well on boards, get a residency at a place w/ a good cards fellowship, and publish, publish, publish as a student and resident. I think cardiologists spend half their day reading and arguing about studies and p-values.... kinda boring to me, but to each his own.
