Homework? Hahaha.

I didn't apply but oh do share the details of the case study! Sounds like fun.

Got mine today! I'm psyched.

What's a DPC program? Just curious. Thanks!

"Doctor-Patient-Continuum" as opposed to Lecture Based learning, DPC uses the Problem Based Learning, or "process learning" approach. Do a search on process learning if you are not familiar with it. It has become very popular in all levels of education, but especially in medical school settings.

Oh, is that a new program at NYCOM? I never heard of it. Does anyone have a curricular outline or good web site for NYCOM. I can't seem to find one on the web.
Thanks.

Thanks.

It's a pilot program that is starting this year for about 40 people in the '09 class. I don't think there is any online info on it yet, but all the interviewees got a packet about the DPC program.

I made the cut too! No more 300 person lecture hall! 👍

Coming from a school where my chem labs had 4 people in them...this will be quite nice.

I just got the packet with our first case.

It has to be appedicitis. (http://www.umm.edu/ency/article/000256sym.htm)

Thoughts:
Does it have to be appendicitis?
What tests will we run to confirm?
What is the next step as far as treatment?
How long do we have to deliver treatment before it escalates further?

why dont you look into a rebound-tenderness test and off course apply a decent amount of pressure over the lower right quadrant. Also, look into Mcburney's point and that will help you along.

I want "homework" too. 🙁

hey can one of you guys put up the case? I wanna play too

~your local nycom omm fellow... see ya at the exams
mwahaha

from the objective info given:
rebound tenderness is present in lower right abdominal quandrant. positive McBurney's sign, positive Psoas sign and positive Rivsings sign.

I definitely agree, its appendicitis.
