I know it's still early, but does anyone know if NYCOM sends out info to accepted students about available housing in the area and/or other students looking for roommates?

Im not sure, However I am going there and need to find an apt too. When I was on my interview there I talked to one of the student guides who told me she hired a real estate agent to help her find an apt and that it was completely worth it seeing as how the agent found her a one bedroom for 800/mo that wasn't a closet. I have looked online a little bit and found stuff between 800-1200/mo for seemingly decent 1 bedrooms.

i think they have a webboard that u can look at with apartment listings

Everything in the immediate area will be rediculously expensive...you're best bet is to look at areas in the center of the island (communities around I-495)...the closer you are to the north or south shore the more expensive you get...generally the north shore is more expensive than the south, too.

try queens, its much cheaper and very close.

hi,

I'm a 2nd year and I don't remember ever getting a housing list when I started. I went on sdn to find a place.
I currently have a room available in glen cove. It's a big room for 650. Utilities are not included, but the bills usually come out to be 50 per person (3).
If you are interested, please let me know.
Otherwise, enjoy the summer and get ready for your first year of medical school.
Take care.
