Any TUCOMers & NYCOMers please HELP... need your input! I got accepted to both and cannot decide where to go. I've lived in Nevada for over 13 years now and would like to stay close to home. However, NYCOM really impressed me (ie: campus, hospital affiliates, wireless/hi-tech campus, etc.). So far, a few of the TUCOMers (including the student who gave us the tour during our interview day), when asked why they picked TUCOM have all similar answers.. they picked it because of the location and how they wanted to stay in the west coast. I would really like to have a more profound reason than "geographically ideal". PLEASE anyone who can give me a substantial reason why to pick TUCOM... please, I would appreciate your input on this. NYCOMers: this might me a totally stupid/ignorant question but, are there rotations available for NYCOMers in the west coast? What are the chances of matching in the west coast?

I think NYCOM is a better school all around. It is more established in its area and its matchlist is great. TUCOM is young and the only reason you would want to go there IS location. That's all there is to that.

I found NYCOM's matchlist in other threads and I'll post it so you can see. It is very comparable to any MD matchlist and there are a few matches on the west coast.

slickness...

Thank you sooo much for such a quick & thorough response. Thanks for the match list. I was just wondering, if you don't mind me asking, is there a specific reason why you declined interview at NYCOM and interviewed with TUCOM? Also, congratulations on your multiple acceptances. Have you decided where you're going?

Well I received my TUCOM interview in August so it was one of my first ones before I was accepted. I received my NYCOM interview in November and by that time I was already accepted to a few schools that I'd rather attend, so I declined it.

I'm leaning toward COMP because I'm from CA and the location thing is a big thing for me, much like you said it was for TUCOM students. I'm getting a lot of flack from people saying I shouldn't give up Drexel or Temple because they are MDs, but location overrides that for me. I guess you need to decide if location is a big thing for you.

NYCOM without question. The clinical rotations at NYCOM are far superior. TUCOM(vallejo) is not such a greaat location either.

Hi bugmuny..
Thanks for your input. If you don't mind sharing, what school will you be going to and what were the factors that helped you make your decision?
