you apply right out of HS. you do 3 years of undergrad, 4 years of medical school. you get your undergrad degree after you finish your first year of med school at nycom.

I think to stay in the program you need to have a minimum gpa of 3.5 each semester of undergrad. and probably something around a 27 on the mcat.

try posting on the highschool forums of SDN for more info on how to get in.

Bad idea in my opinion. Have you ever noticed how many high school graduates plan on going to med school? Most of them change their mind before pre-med is over. I think early decision programs for pre-meds are a better idea.

it's actually not a bad idea. you dont have to go to med school after your 3 years if you change your mind. you can graduate a semester early and get your undergrad degree (in 3.5 years). If you decide to go to med school, you can get into NYCOM with a 3.5 and a 27 and zero extracurriculars and all the other stuff you usually need. the only downside I could see is that NYIT is a private school so tuition may be a problem but all of the BS/DO students get great scholarships for their undergrad years.

In a way, it's kind of like an early decision program for pre-meds.
