I just got an email from NYIT saying that they only have less than 5 spots left and currently have 60 applicants scheduled for interview. Is anyone else on the same boat as me? Is it worth it to travel all the way there? Anybody else interviewing with NYIT in Jan?

Well that sucks. I only added them to my designations 11/9. I wonder if that was too late because they still haven't even acknowledged that they received my application from PTCAS let alone given me an interview date.

In other news yesterday I had to find out from one of the schools that I applied to (non-PTCAS) that they hadn't received one of the LOR that I and the reference thought was sent out back in October. So almost 2 months go by and I didn't know that my application was not complete. I only received the email today that my application is complete. That really sucks. The school only contacted me a couple days ago that it was not complete. I guess it doesn't really change much because the person I spoke to at the school told me to expect decisions about interviews in mid to late December so maybe everyone gets that decision at the same time. I hope the LOR delay did not put me at the bottom of the list. I guess we need to call schools to check if things have been received.

Keep in mind that many people may have put down a deposit and are holding a spot waiting to hear from other schools. You could be wait listed if they like you and may get accepted if others choose a different school

Looks like I may be left out because of a first come first serve situation. I think my stats are pretty competitive for this school. If only I had applied sooner.

I wonder if they've stopped taking applicants for interviews due to the limited space and the amount of applicants they already have scheduled for interviews.

60 people scheduled for interview. How long would it take to get through that many interviews?

Jeez and I just found out the semester starts in late May and I'll still be taking one of their prerequisites in the spring semester which ends in May so I doubt they'd accept that.

I have no chance. 🙁

60 applicants is alot for 5 seats, when I went to the interview in October there were around 15 applicants at the interview. And they said that they have i believe 40seats with around 12 seats already reserved for their 3&3 program so around 27seats opened. So it was already limited when I interviewed.

I think I am going to not interview with them, since there is a very slim chance of getting an acceptance and the school is out of state for me and VERY expensive, so I don't think it would be worth it for me to interview. Hope that opens up the chances for other people though 👍

I got the rejection letter in the mail today from NYIT. So that's 4 schools that have rejected me. 1 that has me scheduled for an interview and I'm waiting to hear back from about 13 others and I'm finishing up the application for 2 other schools.

I know I said something like this last cycle but if I don't get in to any schools this cycle I will for sure this time make sure that I study enough to get excellent GRE scores and work and save so much that I'll barely need to borrow a dime for DPT school. Might have to take a couple prerequisites over for next cycle though as a couple of them may be a year over 10 years old. I'll keep my eye on that so that I don't get caught off gaurd with it next cycle.

Have my interview with NYIT this Friday and I'm super nervous ! Is anybody else going to be there? 🙂 For the people who already interviewed, do you have any tips/what kind of questions they ask? anything helps !

I'm a first year student in the program so I might be able to give a few pointers. If I remember correctly, the interview day consisted of a tour of the facilities (library, caf, etc), a one on one interview with a professor (dont worry, they are all very nice!), and an essay to get a general sense if you know how to write. You cant prep for the essay, it's about something random. Be prepared for the usual questions...such as why PT, why NYIT, and how things in your past/present have prepared you for a rigorous graduate program. Just be honest and real! Good luck!

It takes them about a week to send a relpy. I interviewed Tueday the 15th and got a reply Tuesday the 22nd in the mail

I interviewed with them on Jan 11 and still haven't gotten a reply yet 🙁

I just got accepted to nyit. Does anyone know if this school is worth the top dollar they are asking for? I will be coming from a completely different state so don't know if it will be worth it for me to go all the way there. Thoughts?

It's an ok school, I liked the faculty when I met them during the interview process. I will say that you do share some class time with the OT and PA students. I am not sure how many classes specifically but I know it's a few. The anatomy lab is cool, not in the basement so there are a lot of windows and natural light. Umm, probably means nothing but the name of the building that the PT department is in is called the 500 Building. All the other buildings have "real" names lol, like John Smith Medical Building or something. The chair of the department mentioned it so I thought I would too! They do this pretty cool thing where they have actors come in and pretend to be patients with different aliments for your practicals. You're in an examination room and they are watching you through cameras (a little creppy I know) but it sounded really cool during the tour.

Worth top dollar? I would say that if you had to spend that type of money a school with a bigger name might be more worth it. Hope this helps, lemme know if you have anymore questions.

both instate and outstate tuition rate are the same since it is a private school.

Im pretty sure it 98600 for all three years. Nyit are good with 9k schlorships so it would be around 90K

I can give my opinion of the school as a current first year student. I really like the program and in response to 'paying top dollar for a school with a bigger name', I would say that going to a school with a bigger name does not mean you will get a better education, nor does it mean that you are more or less likely to get a job afterwards (read the millions of threads on here about that). The professors are awesome and really accessible. They will go out of their way to help you if you need it. And the only class we have had with OT's are anatomy lab in the summer, and that didn't really make a difference because we still had a pretty low number of students per cadaver. It was actually really nice to get to know some of the other students in the health professions program, but we haven't had anything with them since then. I have no idea about classes with PA students...I haven't heard of that one. As far as the 500 bldg, yes its small and not that pretty to look at. But nobody really cares about that. There are other places to study on campus if you dont want to hang out there all day, such as the undergrad library and the med school library which is open really late. Hope this helps.

You should join the fb group that one of the girls in our year has set up. I think there are other people looking for housing there too, and might have good suggestions.
