Hello guys, I have been admitted to both NYITCOM- Arkansas campus and Marian university woods college of osteopathic medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. I am interested in doing ortho, IR or anesthesiology. Which one of these schools would help me the most in matching in those specialties.

NYITCOM

Pros:
-
connections to more established New York campus.
- P/F curriculum
- affiliation with A- state.
- reputation
- high boards pass rate
-1 ortho match this year.
Cons:
-
not so great clinical rotations
- rural location
- High tuition 69k

MUCOM
Pros:
-
more urban location
- better rotation sites, mostly close to school
- possibly better research positions
- closer to other big cities like Chicago
- lower tuition 59k
Cons:
-
graded curriculum
- board pass rate been dipping in previous years.
- match data is not published, just a map and the specialties, not specifically the number.
- no ortho match this year

Thanks everyone in advance for your feedback.

i would go with NYIT due to being more established especially since you are going for competitive specialties like ortho, IR or anesthesiology. NYIT has a stronger reputation (as school has had a curriculum for serveral decades) and P/F which will ease up stress so you can focus on killing it on boards. Location wise rural might be better as less distractions but you will be studying most of the time so location IMO is not that big of an issue, and with Arkansas being rural the total cost of living and tuition might be pretty much the same as marian. I have friends in both schools and regardless both are great schools. I just know marian does push heavily for primary and with boards dipping, if you want those competitive specialties I would go with a school that is more secure in making sure you pass and get the speciality you want.
